passion.

About ten minutes ago I was catching up on a group chat (yeah, it gets better). Anyway, a friend had posted about discourse markers (see what I did there?). And it was so hot. Really sexy because she a) clearly knows her stuff and b) really enjoys it.

So - what are you passionate about? What do you like hearing others talk about? Do you get a flutter/twitch when someone starts waffling or is the urge to eyeroll there?

I don't get a twitch or flutter but I hugely admire people like Lucy Worsley and Mary Beard who know their subject inside out are able to talk interestingly about it and don't patronise.

I used to work with a lady that had as her remit hedgehogs, now I loves a little wedgepig myself so sitting there listening to her talking about them, was the joy of my week and a meeting I never avoided. She also had a hedgehog costume, but if I start talking about that I will come over all unnecessary!

^^ I don't know if I'm passionate but I'm intensely interested in history and archaeology hence my admiration of the two women I mentioned and their contemporaries

I'm endlessly curious so always happy to learn something new from someone who knows what they're talking about.

For me, the person has to be a great orator, in addition to being a subject matter expert.

I know this one lady who works as an engineer for NASA probes, and damn, i could listen to her go on all day about the nitty gritty of sending anything in to space.

Her cadence, pitch, inflexion, and the joy on her face when she gets going on the subject, are pleasing to me

If it's a friend or family member and I can see them coming alive as they talk, then yes, I love it. I wouldn't say it's sexy to me but it is delightful to see people you care about showing their passion.

What I do find sexy is someone who is a master of a

particular skill. Be it cooking, performing, carpentry, sport - there is something intoxicating about it for me.

Yep. People who know what they're talking about stand out a million miles from those blagging it, bigging themselves up when they don't deserve to and those just trying to impress.

Doesn't matter the subject. Even if it's something I have little interest in I get a happy feeling knowing that they so engrossed in a subject and keen to share their knowledge with others.
