I had worked in mental health for a good while.I remember an addict, telling me how much he received...it was basically my wages. That didnt include other benefits.

Some addicts/alcoholics, get dual diagnosis of other related symptoms, so can be classed as having more DLA.

Its a bizarre system, especially when it gives addicts more money than they need, which can lead to an excess of their addiction of course.

I'm not one for judging people...perhaps more the systems faults...but remember people.....we ALL may need help someday...nobody is immune to mental health issues.

"I haven't heard of this anywhere. Where did you hear of it?"

a guy who was in court for his '7th' yes '7th' drink driving offence was advised by his solicitor to register himself as an alcoholic before appearing in court in the vain hope of avoiding a custodial sentence .. (he was also banned from driving at the time) .. he done this and to his surprise recd the said amount of money

Who does he register with? Not sure about this £150pw claim. On the legal point his solicitor was probably advising him to attend Alcoholics Anonyous so that he could show to the court that he was addressing his problems.

No. There's an urban myth that people claiming Benefits can claim an extra allowance if they own a dog. It's not true.

Glasgow

It used to be the case that alcoholics benefitted from additional payments because of their addiction.

Their addiction also precluded them from payments for other health related problems 'cos it was deemed a self-inflicted injury.
