Hotels becoming cock-blocks / awkward hotel experiences

More and more hotels seem to be putting enhanced security in place e.g needing to swipe room key to access lifts or external doors. There’s probably good reason for it safety wise but it’s becoming harder and harder to find hotels where visitors can just come straight to room from outside.

I wonder if it’s also to stop as much shenanigans going on haha. Do hotel staff take it as a given people are going to shag in rooms or is if frowned upon? I’d feel awkward asking the hotel to call up to the room if it was me.

What’s the most awkward hotel experience you’ve had?

Hotel staff don't care what you do in the room as long as it's legal, consensual and you don't leave a mess or make a noise.

I just walk into the hotel & lift with them no questions asked. Staff just presume you are heading up to a room yourself

Yeah the problem is most hotels need you to swipe a card before you can even get into the lifts now though.

I feel much safer knowing it's all key card access. I just stayed in London, on my own. I wouldn't feel great knowing anyone can walk in and access floors etc.

I felt most awkward walking out of a hotel room after meeting my long term partner there.

It was a quicky as he'd been working a lot and had to get over the other side of London afterwards.

Booking in was fine, as he left instructions at reception to let me up.

He left about 10 minutes before me and the two girls on reception had a look of WTF on their faces as I dropped my key card off.

This was because I was a 56 yr old, fat woman in jeans and comfy shoes, and he was a tall, fit, handsome 40 year old in an expensive suit.

I felt their eyes burning into my back as I walked out

If you're with them you will have the card. I think they might raise an eyebrow if you invite twenty people though

Or book in with them.

I've done that many times.

Most staff don't bat an eyelid even though I'm usually much older than the man I'm with.

If that’s the case I just either lead the way and let them follow behind and then just swipe and then all get in the lift…

It’s so guys can’t arrange blokes from here to come and fuck their wives without them knowing.

I had to wait for him to drop a key card out of the window.

its more as a security and stop other things from happening.

As customers you would all be up in arms if someone broke into your room and pinched your stuff.

Its also another block against another set of people selling you maybe surprised on what goes on.

Plenty of business meets are used at hotel rooms so class them as that.

Why would you need to slip them a fiver? You're allowed guests in your room.

The only issue I’ve encountered was a doorman at a hotel in Manchester asking for our room number and names that were down.

Luckily it was only two of us and we had booked the room, but that could’ve been a problem say id booked a room and a couple tried to get in that were meeting me.

I usually just send the lift down to them if I don't want to put any clothes on. It's annoying but at least it's safe on the hotels part when its locked.

Why would you want a total stranger who you've never even met coming directly up to your room? I always meet them away from the hotel first. Sometimes I get a bad vibe and take it no further. With a dangerous man you've no chance if no one knows he's there.

You should have just said don't worry girls when your old enough you might be able to get yourself someone that good and sure if your not good enough give me a call and I can give you a few pointers. Then walked off with the smile of someone who had just been well satisfied.

I think most hotels that operate this it is after a certain curfew (10/11pm) but if you've been out for a social and it's worthwhile meeting them then nothing to stop you organising a play date, get them into the hotel earlier in the day, the next day/week/month

When there's been more than just one play friend meeting in a hotel, I ask for two room cards, then pop outside to my car, and leave one on a tyre for the 'extra' to join us.....

If a person has a card for his/her room there should be no hassle for the elevator or room , just my tuppence worth , what's stopping a person from entering an hotel elevator or a room at the same time ? If people want to meet in an hotel l don't think anything will stop them but l agree with you it's all swipe cards for everything now .

This is a huge problem if the person you are meeting is a munter and you don’t want to be seen with them.

Hotels won't care who is there unless they believe you are 'stealing service' by using a room for double occupancy whilst only paying for single.

They will often have a curfew for security reasons as staff levels are lower at night and doors will be locked at 11pm or similar.

What makes you think I'm offended? I just don't find it joke worthy to reference a man who murdered at least 13 women. Women meeting people off here have enough to think about their safety without serial killers being referenced. Not funny.
