Lil help please medical experts i stood on a rusty nail and have a lovely hole in my foot its not bleeding or awt but quick question is it ok to use hand gel or maybe whiskey to clean it with and disifect it? I dont want to get my foot d*unk or awt

I wouldn’t try and remove it if it’s dirty , leave it as it is and head to A&E , could end up doing more damage.

Doesn't have to be an a&e visit call 101 and they can get you an appointment at an injuries unit depending on where you live, don't need to spend hours queuing at least!

I'd give 111 a ring.

I stood on a nail when I was younger. And I had to stay in hospital for 3 days. I was quite sick. I think they gave me a shot and they said something about me dying... I'm not trying to scare you but definitely speak to a professional.

I was in hospital once with a smashed up

knee. Thee guy in the next bed (not old)

had done exactly the same as you. Because he'd left it, he will have trouble for the rest of his life. I can't remember the details but it should have been a quick easy fix, instead it involved surgery and all sorts, it was a right mess.

The bugs, just clean it with water. The bugs as you put it are in the skin. Whisky and hand gel won't get inside. Tetanus helps prevent lock jaw. It's not a good

Don’t put hand gel on it!. If it’s stopped bleeding, use something clean to wipe around the area with warm water, then try and cover it best you can with a bandage or something like that. Please go get it removed asap though as you could cause yourself some serious problems.

No ! Put a clean dressing on it as it can still get infected even if it’s not bleeding but you do need to get a tetanus jab…. Don’t leave it

Ouch. Puncture wounds are the worst for building infection without you knowing. If you were a horse you would be poulticed and jabbed.

Tetanus is incredibly rare, the annual UK cases are in single figures ! Just clean your wound and cover it, drink the whiskey and look out for any infection the next couple of days.

Go and get it looked at. Being a hero is pointless if you develop a major infection and die

Thankyou nurses im going to try drive over to a limp in emergency clinic today this must be how a car feels with a flat tyre iv broken bones galore dislocated knees hell im regularly hacking off corns with a razor but christ on a bike this shit fuckin hurts who the hell knew pass the morphine please

i didnt in the end just filled a cup of wet salt and used a cuetip to go fishing wow that shit stung then put a plaster on it think i might have dug too deep mind you seen as i cant stand on that foot mow or move my toes

Or...

You can do the sensible thing, put on a clean dressing, nip along to your local A&E or walk in centre.

Try to pick a time around mid afternoon or early evening, bit quieter.

If you are very brave you may get a certificate.

Tetanus is the least of your worries:

Clostridium botulinum bacteria can live almost anywhere, and cause botulism, a bacterial infection that colonises the nerves leading to muscle paralysis and death by suffocation once it reaches the nerves that control the diaphragm and intercostal muscles.

There are also numerous bacteria such as group A streptococcus and vibrio vulnificus that live in soil or water and which are responsible for necrotising fasciitis, this is less immediately fatal than botulism, but much less pleasant. The infection targets the fascia- tissues under the skin that hold together muscles, nerves fat deposits and blood vessels- as the infection takes hold these cells die and your body begins to decompose from the inside out before you are actually dead…

All cleaned up, jab done, script in hand and just after the medic says, all done, any questions, and you say....err no, well yes, can I have a brave boy badge or certificate please.
