I do think they should be only for organised events but not just for November 5th. So many other celebration reasons for them. They weren't invented just for guy Fawkes night.

I wish they’d ban them. My gators are petrified.

We don't celebrate 5th November over here so it's only Halloween and New Years Eve but they are usually going off for a few weeks beforehand.

In saying that it was definitely much quieter this year with only a few exceptions so maybe people don't have as much disposable income to waste on fireworks.

I believe they should be only for organised public displays, like they have in other countries. In Australia for example, the owning and setting off fireworks by private individuals are illegal. Alternatively, limited to certain days of the year and not going off for weeks at a time.

I’ve noticed the media puts so much into how to keep your animals calm, but what about those with PSTD or with a mental impairment, e.g. autism? It’s very disheartening to see your beloved family member shouting, banging and hitting themself with each bang - so loud like a cannonball going off and ear defenders didn’t help, like we had last week.

Errr, Guy Fawkes was alive around 400 years ago- the Chinese invented the basics of modern fireworks around a 1000 years ago...so they were very forward thinking to know about the gunpowder plot so long before

I'd say ban them but give us a public figure to hang, draw and quater before burning alive as a tribute to the old days (genital torture optional)

The recent idiots in London & Scotland demonstrate some of the general public need to be kept well away from easy access to explosives.

Organised displays are definitely the way forward and if you still really want to do your own display, you can do a basic pyrotechnic competency course in a day which also signs you up to a register and allows you to buy some of the pro grade popwhizzbang toys

Near Abercynon

Not a massive fan of them, but also (generally speaking) not a massive fan of banning stuff.

I remember going to council organised displays when I was younger - how the hell did they manage to afford them??

Alway free displays and would last for about 30 mins.

A box of crappy fireworks lasts about 2 mins and costs about £100.

These must have cost councils a fortune!

Leeds council have cancelled all six bonfires and firework displays this year and say it will save £200,000.
