"Has anyone else had fireworks going off all night tonight not stopped here since 4.30 until 11.I'm no killjoy quiet liked them actually but feel sorry for people with animals has they will have to go through it all again tomorrow. What's people opinions on them.should they just be for November the 5th or for anytime " I believe they should be only for organised public displays, like they have in other countries. In Australia for example, the owning and setting off fireworks by private individuals are illegal. Alternatively, limited to certain days of the year and not going off for weeks at a time. I’ve noticed the media puts so much into how to keep your animals calm, but what about those with PSTD or with a mental impairment, e.g. autism? It’s very disheartening to see your beloved family member shouting, banging and hitting themself with each bang - so loud like a cannonball going off and ear defenders didn’t help, like we had last week. " They weren't invented just for guy Fawkes night. " Errr, Guy Fawkes was alive around 400 years ago- the Chinese invented the basics of modern fireworks around a 1000 years ago...so they were very forward thinking to know about the gunpowder plot so long before

"I'd say ban them but give us a public figure to hang, draw and quater before burning alive as a tribute to the old days (genital torture optional) " The recent idiots in London & Scotland demonstrate some of the general public need to be kept well away from easy access to explosives. Organised displays are definitely the way forward and if you still really want to do your own display, you can do a basic pyrotechnic competency course in a day which also signs you up to a register and allows you to buy some of the pro grade popwhizzbang toys
