I think he must have lost it in the lights; white ball against a backdrop of white lights, what could go wrong?

We nearly threw that away with some poor cricket in the middle overs but Wood, Woakes and Curran bowled particularly well and that swung the game back to us.

Our run rate is healthy too and is much better than the Crims run rate.

I gathered that, i meant the injury to the Pakistani fast bowler allowed Stokes and Ali to take the game away from them which is of course part and parcel of any sport..

If we are going to mention how unlucky Pakistan were with that injury, how about England missing several of their first choice players like Bairstow, Root, Malan, Archer and Wood?

Definitely a big loss at a key moment of the game. Stokes was looking vulnerable at that point.

They're a great side Pakistan but overall England have the edge on them and that's how it played out. Rashid's wicket maiden was awesome.

You could take the view that it was poor team selection from Pakistan - not having a better 6th bowler option in the event of injury, or one of their main howlers having an off day. Ultimately, they gambled to strengthen their batting, and it didn't pay off. Such is the nature of gambling, you don't always win! It's a shame, because would have been an even better finish, seeing that battle with him in full flight against Stokes. I think the game, and tournament, deserved that as a potentially game-deciding finale.

Amazing the difference with pretty much the same set of players and a coach who encourages them to go out and express themselves and trust in their talent. The rugby lot could do with a bit of that magic.
