Ok, so I get why fuel prices and cooking oils have risen so much, but why absolutely everything?

I went to buy a new foot pump for the car today and it was nearly double in price!

Surely EVERYTHING can't be blamed on the war with Russia.

Someone's pissing on our heads and telling us it's raining.

Energy and fuel costs make EVERYTHING more expensive. It costs more to make things because of the energy prices, more to transport stuff because of fuel and wages have to increase due to the cost of living... further pushing up production costs.

I get that, but there's definitely alot of profiteering going on also.

Particularly the energy companies and fuel prices.

Bet the price's don't go down as quickly if ever!

Is it that the shops fuel bills have gone up? And also the bills for the factory that makes the foot pump have gone up. And it costs more to refuel the Lorry that delivers the foot pump? Just an idea..

Agree of course with this comment. Suspicious though that product prices are increasing almost consistently. Even in-place warehouse stock. Do believe that while most companies are absolutely being affected by a cost increase that there’s more than a little bit of profiteering being squeezed in here and there as the companies know they will get away with it

Of course this is just my opinion. Feels like it’s what’s happening but I have no peer reviewed proof

North West

Overheads have increased across the board.

Wages

Energy for warehouses

Fuel for delivery vehicles

Extra cost of importation post Brexit

Etc etc

I agree, and the Government's "help" is targeted at reinforcing those profits. If they "really" wanted to help, they would have kept the fuel prices low and supported the industry with the rising wholesale price. That would have been MUCH cheaper and wouldn't involve using public money to support energy companies' profits.

I read this weekend that inflation in Hungary is 20% ! UK about average in Europe. Unfortunately inflation is an upward spiral which pulls all prices higher and higher.

Fuel costs automatically increases other costs but yes, companies will undoubtedly take the opportunity to artificially inflate prices. Before that it was covid, before that Brexit, blah, blah..

With Diesel gone up over 25% every item delivered into a manufacturer costs much more even before its transported out & then transported again for distribution.

Then you have the factory & RDC's electricity bills & that before you consider the fuel for ships if imported & all the pay disputes.

It's mostly down to Russia.

Remember the fuel companies and energy companies are making billions in profit.

Profit that’s after they’ve paid out all their costs and expenses.

Not everything can be blamed on Brexit and Russia.

Of course there’s profiteering going on .

Meanwhile ordinary folk have some very hard decisions to make !!!!
