We've done professional and genuine and educated and intelligent and some other words that seem to antagonise some people.

I was just perusing a lovely profile, lovely pictures and biog... And used the classy word and I thought

.. Yeah your profile seems it.

Is classy one of the no no words or does it have a place?

Like so many terms, "classy" is subjective. One person's idea of it could differ from the next.

It's up to the one perusing the profile to determine if the use of "classy" fits or not.

Personally don't find it at all off-putting when I see it worded in profile text.

Classy surely is a nice acceptable word, there are occasionally profiles that stand out in a way that seems more classy than others.

Genuine is alos a word I like to see although it doesn't always mean they are genuine, Intelligence can be judged from exchanging messages quite soon.

Professional is one of the only words I don't get, surely we are all professionals in our field of work, I've been a professional entertainer and a professional sportsman so it's a very open way to describe yourself and sometimes could be percieved as being a bit above the rest who might not be unprofessional at what we are actually here for

. Really is it something we should worry about too much, however we choose to describe ourselves is up to us and someone will always pick fault with part of our bio, as long as it's put together well it should suffice.

I'm not sure it does. I think it only serves as a purpose to put others down. By describing one thing as classy, it immediately devalues anything that doesn't quite meet that standard which I don't think is fair.

Classy is subjective like a lot of words used on profiles. I wouldn't get too hung up on specific words. Try to get to know the person a bit through chat, and you either find a connection or you don't.

It does amuse me how upset some people on here get over the words that complete strangers use to describe themselves. Like it has any effect on their lives whatsoever

The offence always seems to be taken when people think that others are perceived to be describing themselves as somehow better than others...I may just have missed it, but I've never seen anyone get upset by someone describing themselves as (for example) as rough as a badgers arse or as common as muck.

There will always be something that might put people off but your profile represents you so put what you want and you’ll eventually find like-minded people.

We put we are looking for a discerning gent…which to us means no cock pics, one liners, fancy a fuck types, blank profiles…if we put those then our profile becomes like a list of hoops to jump through…I mean not a very high standard to be fair but a list of no’s isn’t our thing

It’s a filter for us, like us putting it might be a filter for someone, so it works either way

This is the problem here though, an element of self promotion is required and I'll use the word for added bonus points, but they could genuinely be a genuine person, or whatever adjective they've chosen to use.

I agree though, that at times when people need to state they are something, usually it's untrue. Some things are merely demonstrated than announced.

As always, a balance has to be struck.

I find that easy to do though as a classy genuine professional educated alpha king kong monster dong who also likes a cup of Lapsang Souchong.

If a profile says " Classy " is it trying to put itself above those that haven't it ? Who knows.. but people can choose whatever floats their boat ...classy is only a word ..each to their own if they want to use it or not , but to me it makes absolutely no difference.

It's a word and much as any other. I fail to see why people put so much emphasis on a word, "they're judging me", "they're looking down on me". Yet the ones happily to judge the intent of others based on one word.

But back to the OP, classy is subjective. My mam wouldn't deem any of us on here as classy. So do I think it helps me make my opinion on someone? Nope but I can see why some use it.
