"School kids. It’s not so dark to walk to/from School." It's darker because it gets dark an hour earlier and the sunrises an hour later.

"People are thinking that the clocks going back is for benefit. It was the other way around, clocks were moved forward from GMT to create EDL, extended day light, during the summer. I believe during the war it was actually moved forward by 2 hours. This was to make better use of the increase in daylight hours that occurs during the summer months. We move it back at this time of year to put it Back where it’s supposed to be. It doesn’t really make any difference to me in the winter, it is dark when I start work and it’s dark when I finish work whether the clocks are changed or not. " It’s why I prefer summer… going to work in the dark and finishing in the dark sucks

"I don't understand how it helps Farmers. Yes, it's lighter in the morning... but it's darker in the evening, there's just about the same amount of daylight as there was yesterday. Do farmers have set start and finish times? I thought the only set times were to make sure tractors were on the road during the two rush hours " We always stop what we are doing and get out on the road at rush hour, even if we have nowhere to go, it’s fun

"School kids. It’s not so dark to walk to/from School." Kids don't walk to school, they all get chauffeured there and back judging by the amount of cars parked up and blocking the roads round most schools morning and late afternoon

"School kids. It’s not so dark to walk to/from School." This. Many years ago there was a trial of not changing the clocks in winter. It was still pitch dark when children were walking to school, and drivers were half asleep because it hadn't gone light yet. Number of children hurt in morning road accidents that winter went through the roof. The next year went back to normal, and the number of accidents dropped again. Note: Going back to normal winter time did not cause any increase in accidents on walking home from schools, because drivers had had all day to wake up.

Surely the numbers of hours of daylight remains the same, and farmers don’t knock off at 4 when it goes dark….
