Has anyone ever been?

Would it be... "Scilly" (sorry) to go in November? Is it nice then?

I have been it was lovely in July 2018.

The crossing was very rough, I would imagine November would be tough, if they run a schedule?

I can describe my experience as darling buds of may, imagine that in November, if you can get there.

I went in summer about 25 years ago on the recommendation of a friend.

I had a great time - very tranquil. Mind you at this time of the year the weather could be a bit bracing!

Define nice? Swimming weather.. um.. probably not unless you are in a heated jacuzzi/pool.

I've been to Italian Sicily twice in September and felt no difference in the swimming than when I'm in the Caribbean.

Cornwall in August was still a bit nippy but nice on a hot day....i.e blue sky and brilliant sunlight. Cornwall when the sky is grey and the sun is non-existent in August? You needed a coat at 8 am in the morning.

I haven’t but if you want a taste of it there a Netflix shows with Zoe Saldana called ‘from scratch’ where she speaks beautifully Italian. It will also show you Italy and a bit of Sicilia as the guy who she fell in love with is from there.

The show is noted 92% on rotten tomatoes and definitely worth a watch.

Ha ha she's not talking about Sicily. These are islands off the coast of Cornwall

I've been once. Took a day trip and ended up on Tresco island. It was stunning in August and not overly busy either. The beaches were empty. We did almost miss the boat back though lol

Thanks for the heads up! I checked and it turns out there's no boats running for my dates. Air crossing is £145

Plus everything is closed.

It will definitely be quiet in November but may not be the best time to visit.

The main island would probably be OK for a weekend trip but if you are talking a week then you'd want to get to the other islands, Tresco in particular.

You can fly to St Mary's if the boat crossing is going to be a problem

There is an awesome company, VentureSail, who do sailing holidays to the Scillies (and many other destinations): usually crewed, but you can hire them 'bareback'.

But not in November, no. The seas are too rough, and the Scillies are already famous for wrecks. I had the same problem many years ago when visiting Inverness for Hogmanay. I saw a leaflet in the house about a day trip to Orkney and was desperate to go. The Tourist Office just laughed at me. 'No one will sail tourists to Orkney in early January!'

Sorry, OP. The Scillies are stunning, and well worth visiting, but you'd be hard put to go in November. But for little more money, and similarish island/lush greenery vibes, I'd strongly recommend Madeira.
