Behind the bike shed!

This is my pet hate the

‘Can I ask you a question?’ messages.

Was that the question? Or are you wanting to ask another? Or is this an exercise in philosophy?

Yes, but you *can* ask me a question. Even if it just to help you on the quiz machine.

It is just a gentle introduction, respecting somebody might be busy or stressed or tired... I can see why some might find it illogical and irritating but I occasionally precede my question with one of those.

And I am not going to tell myself off for doing so!

I've expressed my displeasure for this enough now at work that I think with most people I've broken the cycle. I mostly get a greeting/apology for bothering me and relevant question.

Just got to get everyone back on track with emojis/lol etc.

(Yes I'm a joy to work with)

People donit to be polite. Effectively asking if you have the bandwidth to entertain/ answer the incoming query they have.

Old school? Yes.

Annoying? Understandable.

Ill-intentioned? No.

Me too, Kitty!

As a first contact, I just delete.

And if we've swapped a few messages, it normally signifies they're about to ask me something cheeky
