"The site owners set the rules. Technically and legally they own every thread. They can turn the whole thing off with one click. As long as the forum rules are obeyed then anyone can post what they like even if it's completely off topic." Unless it's viewed as deliberately derailing a thread topic

Plus it's subjective as to whether it's an attempt at derailing. Plus, that post can be ignored.

As long as the forum rules are obeyed then anyone can post what they like even if it's completely off topic. Unless it's viewed as deliberately derailing a thread topic" I just went looking for these "rules". And I challenge anyone to find them. So far as I can tell there are no rules listed for the forum. None linked to on the forum itself, either on the mobile or desktop site. The only mention of the word Forum in the site terms is in section 17.4G that relates to cancelling or ending your membership: "If we end the contract, we will refund subscription payments relating to the period after termination provided that you send a letter to our registered office (see below) requesting a refund. There will be no refund for the period of any suspension or restriction. The restrictions above include: preventing you from accessing public postings such as *FORUMS*, chat and club reviews and from making public posts." The only mention in the site FAQ is as follows: Section: I'm seeing annoying/popup ads on the site. - "If you're still having problems try posting to the *FORUMS* on here asking for help." Section: You don't respond to any of our mails. - "We do this for fun and get hundreds of mails a day so we can't respond personally to questions about the site or your account. We recommend if you have a problem or can't figure out how something works, you post to the site help *FORUM*." Privacy policy: Section: To whom do we send or make available your personal information? Public actions by you for example (but not limited to), entering a chat room, making a *FORUM* post, updating your status, uploading a public photo, broadcasting via cams or participating in a chat may be listed in newsfeeds of other users or shown elsewhere on the site. If you hide your profile from your privacy page, your activities won’t be shown in newsfeeds but may still be visible in the place where you took the action or elsewhere on the site (for example but not limited to, your *FORUM* posts). The moderators are quick to remind us to stick to the rules. But they don't make it easy to know what they are. Serious question, where are they?

Go to reply and at the top it says ‘please be aware of the forum rules before posting’ and there’s a link. Click on them

"So it seems they are linked when you post a thread or reply to one: https://m.fabswingers.com/content/forum-rules And the relevant rule, the only thing that covers it is.. Section: Deliberate or malicious disruption of the forum If you deliberately or maliciously try to interrupt everyone else's enjoyment of the forums, for example by trying to fill up the forum with your own content (just one example), it's not fair and we'll take action. Absolutely nothing about contents of keeping on topic or derailing, unless you do it to an extent that it is considered malicious disruption." Rules shmooooles

I'd add that this, as you might expect, is a really terribly written rule, as I only have to find one person on the whole of FAB (or maybe on the thread) who doesn't;t mind what it's derailed with, and you can no longer say "everyone", ergo you cannot apply the rule. Also, the rule is about trying to - if I succeed....? ... and yes it would be that picky if this was a law, rather than a 'rule'.
