I think so. I usually make eye contact, smile, and say "welllll, that's very kind of you to say so."

A compliment should be a shared pleasure.

I think it depends how you feel about yourself, regardless of the compliment, if someone says.."I love your hair" yet you feel that it doesn't look great, you won't receive it as a compliment.

You will then think on, and perceive said person is only pointing a flaw you already feel you have.

Human minds and the way we work, self destructive, very complex and to me a compliment is about the person I am, not the way I look.

When I receive a compliment I simply thank the giver for their kindness. If they were being insincere then they usually feel a little foolish for it, but if genuine then it's made them happy. I think this has become easier with age...as a youngster I always laughed them off.

I am unaccustomed in the art of reverencing them so I would not really know. The last one anywhere near was a someone saying " you're not really a bastard" and it was flummoxed as to how I should reply. Try me and I will soon find out.

I have taught myself to accept them gracefully after someone explained to me how horrible it felt to say something they genuinely felt was true just to have it brushed off or joked about or dismissed.

If it's an honest compliment then to dismiss it it to dismiss the giver as a lier.

If it's a false compliment the giver is still offering it because you have something of value.

And if it's a sarcastic compliment the best way to deflate the giver is ti accept it with a straight face and good grace and move on.

Apparently it was because im a virgin and at a recent meeting was made to do the "VIT" (virgin initiation test)and it was because I couldn't stop giggling at seeing naked bodies - being a virgin you see - Honest I am

I do something today and you may say "You are awesome, brilliant, wonderfull."

Tomorrow i may do something that pisses you off and you will hate me.

Love and appreciation often turns into hate and loathing and then back again.

I try, not always succesfully to treat compliments and insults in the same way.

I realised a while ago how rude it is to reject a compliment so I try to say thank you graciously, even if I don't actually believe a word of it.

I'm gradually learning though that it takes all sorts and it's quite possible for people to love things I despise.

It works that way for celery and parsnip, so why not for body shape and size?
