The popular Ford Fiesta is set to be discontinued as early as next year as costs of parts rise and drivers opt for SUVs.

Ford bosses are expected to announce in the next few days that the production of the Fiesta will end by mid-2023.

Executives are believed to be holding talks with dealers, suppliers and staff ahead of the announcement.

Is this another great British institution that's been destroyed by Brexit?

I loved my fiesta. It was my first proper posh car with fancy wheel trims and extra headlights like a proper boy racer.

Why would brexit impact this decision, they are made in Germany and have been for a while.

In the long run people won't be able to get parts therefore all fiestas will become extinct .

Had a very steamy session with a gf on the driver’s seat of my Ford Fiesta in a busy tourist car park in Snowdonia in the pouring rain, many years ago.

Thank goodness the windows were already steamed up - as her bouncing derrière did set off the horn (on the steering wheel) at one point of excitement… Aaahh! Happy memories of Aber Falls.
