You couldn't have had the divorce without the marriage.

That doesn't have to be the consequence. I'm sure not all of them will be cheating rats (just don't meet any of the ones I fell in love with).

I have been pondering about this since the awful events surround the nurse who took her own life.

I have also been thinking about the degree of culpability...the personal consequences to me if I were in that or a similar situation and tbh I dont know.

Sorry I have not answered your question... not yet anyway.

Many moons ago I was unemployed and I turned down a day's work labouring for my uncle on a building site because I thought it was beneath me. Had I gone to work for him that day I would have missed the phone call that led to a very good job in telecoms (this was before mobile phones).

I think possibly why I am more deep and meaningful at this time of year now, an anniversary of not a happy time and one I still can think not answering my phone had an unintended consequence.

However I am not one to talk openly I suppose.

I Went on a girls holiday whilst getting over an ex, met my husband. Got married within 18 months.

Within 6 weeks of getting married I was covered in bruises with a host of broken bones.

So....I trusted too soon and as a consequence realised I will never completely trust a man ever, ever again. Self preservation is priceless

No one falls in love and expects a battering. I'm sorry that you had to experience that. Trust is hard to give when it has been abused, protect yourself but don't close yourself off - that leads to other consequences (as I know).

I've read your posts over the last few months and I think the real unintended consequence might be the closeness you now feel to your family and what you give back in your work.

The past has a way of rearing its head when we least expect it. I gave an interview to a national newspaper many years ago but I am still surprised at some of the consequences that arise from that.

The way I see it, people will always have a way of reminding you of your past, no matter who it is.

As long as you are happy, and you've left it in the past, regardless of any mistakes the future will always be more important to you.
