A growing trend of people buying or building tiny homes.

A BBC news article on a couple who live in once to save on costs and not having a mortgage.

Seen some on YouTube in the America not sure how i feel about living in a shed.

Is a joke .

Good morning .

I’m painting a T1 in London Colney .

I was so looking fowards to get it as is near my daughter .

But the size of it . Room is single. , open plan lounge to kitchen ( massive unit )

So small .

Can’t even fit my super king size bed in there

For £900 a month .

No room . Is so small I think I’m gonna paint it in 3 days .

A joke . Rip off

That was my original idea but I figured the height might be troublesome so now I want to convert an American style school bus

I’m currently looking into building my first home, had it all priced up etc coming in under £380,000 (including prices for work carried out), estate agent valued it at £700,000.

No wonder folks are turning to tiny homes & self building.

I spend most of my life on wheels so living in a wheeled vehicle, on wheels, seems......too much for me

We've been looking at bungalows recently and some are about as big as a postage stamp. We have to fit in 4 adults and a child, but most were built with a single retired couple in mind

The so-called “tiny home” is a tarted-up residential caravan.

The report was extremely biased – all pros and no cons.

The problem is finding somewhere to park with electricity, water and sewage disposal facilities. This will not be cheap or convenient.

The solar cell panel shown was nowhere near big enough, and no mention was made of any battery storage capacity. They have a wood-burning stove, so the local Asda must sell fire wood in 1 ton lots!

Damper alternatives are houseboats of one sort or another.

Modern RVs are fully equipped, an investment but a good one. It's my retirement plan actually.Travel the world at my own pace

Each to their own but to me l see absolutely nothing wrong with a small home , it depends on who you have there as company and if that's right it doesn't matter if you live in a small home , money talks but it can't sing and it can't dance ...small home for me anytime

Can get the containers quite cheap as well, it's just finding somewhere to build it

I've seen this a fair bit in London. Young couples with a fair bit of cash do this to save money until they buy a larger family property when the kids start popping out. My worry is that it sets a president that it's OK to live in a hovel and the government will start making smaller properties. Like when people started using their front rooms as bed rooms and build houses on their gardens. The housing association my mum is with are taking back gardens to build on. All of a sudden things like gardens and living rooms are being viewed as "luxuries" rather than a part of everyday life.

In the US, social housing is not ubiquitous and tiny homes have been promoted as an alternative to living on the street.

There are a huge number of working people living in cars and vans out of necessity over there, I dare say the trend will eventually lodge in the UK with average house prices as they are.....

We are almost doing this. Although we technically live in Buckinghsmshire, the plan is to move to the Valleys in Wales and we have both taken jobs here already. We spend most of our time staying in a caravan in the hills, awning attached, log burner, sofa, TV and furniture in there and then kitchen, bedroom and shower room in the caravan. It's cosy
