Original recipe was made with stout. I think the Guinness in this case you're supposed to use the proper old-school stuff in the bottles.

Shepherd's pie is lamb, cottage pie is beef.. never had guinness in it.. That would be better in a steak pie with pastry

Fry your mince, with little bit of curry powder, into dish, soft fluffy mash with cheese mixed through it, lobbed that on top. Make sure fork the top for crispy bits with scattering if cheese on top. Pop in oven, marvellous
