I use 24hr oxygen so classed as disabled. It can be offputting and a bit scary for some people,which I can understand but chatting in chatrooms have come across a couple of other disabled people on fab. Was wondering how many are actually disabled and happy to admit it and how many are a bit frightened to admit it because of others reactions.

Mrs is classed as disabled due to issues with her knees, spends most of her time on crutches to get about. We will always be up front about this when chatting to people as we know it could scare some people away. If they want to run away then we weren’t interested anyway!

I'm a wheelchair user, though sometimes able to hobble short distances on crutches if absolutely essential. Not always though. We're up front about it all, it's pretty obvious when I roll up

I'm neurodivergent and my ability to function has been diminished to the poin that I view it as a disability. It is on my profile.

Ptsd, chronic depression and aspergers. Non are visually noticeable, but are all debilitating

I will add I wasn't a 100% certain myself but it looks like if you have A diagnosis of something that is recognised as a disability.

You're disabled under the Equality Act 2010 if you have a physical or mental impairment that has a 'substantial' and 'long-term' negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities. However, there is currently no national register of people with disabilities although some local authorities operate voluntary registers in their areas.

I know there isn't a register as such it's just on the government website it is defined as 14.6 Registered disabled people

It's not about a label to say that you have a disability though is it. It's a helpful way of letting others know that you may not be able to do certain things or that you may have limitations.

It’s not always about having a label, it’s about getting an answer that explains things. For me, getting my autism diagnosis explained why I have so many struggles and some strange quirks x

Well, speaking personally I wouldn't. There are only 2 'labels' I apply to people

a) Arsehole b) Non-Arsehole

This wasn't about labelling it was whether people were scared to admit they were or could be described as disabled or not in the least bothered. I am very upfront about it but then its very difficult to hide a bloody great oxygen tank with a cannula attached to your nose

I poop in a bag stuck to my belly. Yes, I have a stoma.

The alternative, not having a bag and pooping uncontrollably at inopportune moments.
