Hi, another car related question please…

My car number plates are quite deteriorated. I’ve seen that halford can make and fit new ones (if you take the correct identification to prove the vehicle is yours).

Do you know if the plates from Halfords come with advertisement for Halfords on them? If they have got their advert on them, does anyone know where I can get ones without?

I just want plain with legal lettering on them.

By law all number plates must have the details of the supplier on them. Some companies like halfords and car dealers take advantage and the logo is quite large while others are more discreet, just a case of shopping round the local motor factors until you find one who’s logo or details are to your liking

Perfect. Thanks for confirming that. That makes sense. Online companies are pretty good too I guess?

This one is a car I’m selling so I’ll go with halfords but my new car I might go online as it’s going to arrive with the dealerships name in big letters with logo I’m sure

Ahh right. Interesting. I’m paying for them to fit them too. I guess they’ll just use sticky pads of might pop some screws into it too? Ideally I want a good screw don’t I? Haha!

Probably just take your old plate, place it over the top of the new one, mark and drill it. More secure than double sided tape on a not new car

Does a number plate have to have a postcode on it?

All number plates must show the suppliers name and postcode.GOV.UK

There is no dirt or residues on a freshly painted bumper. Yours will be filthy when you remove it

Its the small logos underneath the letter, usually adverting the garage where the car was bought from , the original poster was enquiring about

Got you. I guess if I bought them online for my new car and fitted them myself I could spend some time cleaning and prepping the area. Halfords are unlikely to do that I bet. Good point, thanks.

To get the area truly clean you should use automotive clay and then a 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water mix. Personally I'd still use screws.
