I’m wanting to get a gift for someone who loves red wine, however I’m clueless as to what to get them as a present.

Any wine lovers on here have any recommendations?

Fareham

A good Argentinian malbec for about £10. Or an aussie Shiraz. If you have the cash then chateau neuf de pape for £15

Thete are sooooo many different kinds, and someone who likes, say, Australian Shiraz might hate a left bank claret.

Do you know any wine that they definitely like? Maybe that they've mentioned?

"What's the budget?"

I’d put a cap about £30 max if it’s something special, but available at the local supermarket

Gateway to the Beacons

Do they like old or new world, light or full bodied

corbieres, cotes du rhone villages, a good rioja, St Emillion, Berola

Its all subjective really.

I always go for a Châteauneuf du Pape, even the cheaper ones are still pretty good.

Then the best Ribera del Duero for that sort of money you can get.

You can't go wrong with a nice Rioja. I like Marques de caceres.

North Norfolk area

Laithwaites do a Spanish Red (Tempranilla/Garnacha..... it's a Rioja in all but name) called El Bombero.

They've just lowered the ABV to 14.5%, used to be 15%.

It's in the £10 - £12 range.

I've had so many cases over the years (and hangovers), my go to red definitely.

Believe Waitrose are now doing it as well, so somebody told me.

I just wish you were my friend!! A wine gift is wonderful, but having thought out into it is truly special.

^ just been drinking this tasty Red on holiday in Gran Canaria and can recommend it

Another awesome Spanish Red I would suggest is one called Ramon Bilbao Reserva or upgrade to the “Limitada Edicion” which is very lush
