Why does it seem acceptable for women and couple to far shame men in messages or posts and not pulled up on it and, still have meets? If a single guy was to do the same, he would be void of contact on fab?? Both are wrong to do but thought we could discuss?

Well I can't comment on people's DMs to know if this is the case? Haven't really seen it much on threads either though?

That's not true. Fat shaming gets called out on the forums regardless of the gender its aimed at.

I often see this comment that women rule in fab but no one ever gives any examples of how this is actually true.

Totally agree.

The problem comes when people make statements about larger people for example there was A while back where someone said fat people are not hygienic because they can't reach to wash properly. Or another one that is often bandied about is I won't meet anybody but doesn't care enough about themselves to lose weight.

I wonder if this happens but guys don’t mention it?

On three occassions this year I’ve had women or a couple randomly message me, making fun of my size, before blocking me. These are people I have not interacted with, both 1:1 or in the forums. Later I saw them posting on the forums and so I do believe they were genuine accounts.

Wow, it did not take long for the thread about fat shaming men to descend into low level generalised fat shaming of men.

And just like that this post has become a vessel for fat shaming.

I am fat, I hate the term BBW but use it because people get the picture when it's used. I have a thing for very skinny men and I state it on my profile. Yes I do turn down people on here based on their size because its not what I'm looking for and that person has not read my profile. In the real world outside of fab I meet all kinds of people and size, shape, age or ethnicity isn't a factor.

What nasty people: you dodged a bullet there as they were clearly not worthy of your time.

Most of us have *preferences* about physical type (I will admit that I certainly do but other personal attributes are more important) but it is never ever ok to fat (or thin) shame anyone.

To paraphrase Winston Churchill (IIRC), responding to any such messages with 'I may be fat, but you're ugly...i can diet though' followed by a swift activation of the block button, is the way forward with such contacts

In all honesty, if someone calls me fat they are just pointing out the blindingly obvious, I am fat, it's that simple. I could dress it up with different titles but it's what I am, how it is said on the other hand, the delivery of the word fat is the important one.

"You're fat though"

"You're fat though!

The first line my opinion wouldn't be shaming but the second one perhaps could be.

And as for "dad bods", I guess the poster with the 6 pack is correct with what he is saying, I prefer a man with a bit of extra weight and like the word BBW (cringe) it feels like a nicer way of putting it, having a thread entitled "larger men, fat man show yourselves" doesn't have the same playful ring as "dad bod"

If someone came on the forums saying they preferred larger women, fat women, bbws I would be all over that thread but then size is objective, one person's view of a larger person might be different to the person standing next to you.

no need for any tags just state your dress/trouser size and be done with it ... mum bod dad bod bbw means nothing on here there are there no real guide to it just be honest and state your real size most women do wish guys would do the same (some do) no shame in who you are ... rugby player build is the one that amazes me most like what the hell is that ???

also lets not shame people for what they like size wise either.. most peoples first reaction to someone is visual sexual attraction size big or small will come into that and thats how things should be its not the be all but nobody should be shamed for what they like ...

These posts annoy me.

Every single word in it is assumption. There is no truth in what is said in these types of posts - just interpretation.

These types of posts are divisive.

It is NOT okay for any person regardless of their gender to be derogatory toward another for what ever reason.

Purely stating a preference is not shaming but these are often followed up with a reason behind the preference that could often be classed as shaming.

That doesn't work either though.. for example, someone who is 5'2" and a size 18 is going to have a vastly different body composition and shape to someone who is 5'9" and a size 18, or someone 5'7" with a 36" waist versus someone who is 6'3" with a 36" waist.

Isn't fat shaming the result of people on social media who were promoting their size as healthy and positive, being challenged on their size?

If someone randomly messages to say you are fat, isn't that just being a down right nasty person, who has nothing better to do?

Is there a difference?
