so growing up my family especially my mother were Elvis fans, a true entertainer, just watched the film portraying his rise to fame, didn't realise the struggle he went through with racism,..

fair play to him, an unsung hero that stood up to. the masses of the time RIP Elvis Presley

He donated large sums of money to charity without ever publicising it, challenged racism, but didn’t think himself above the draft.

The man was a legend. Still is.

There was Chuck Berry, but he wasn't white so didn't get the exposure Elvis did."

Chuck Berry had massive exposure around the word and his music is still very popular just a different type, nothing to do with colour

He was arrested for lewd behaviour, I'd imagine, not for literally being in possession of the hips of a black person.

I'm no expert on the statute books of segregation-era America though, so don't sue me.

having just watched the film and it allegedly being a true account of event I quoted the words of the film..like I quoted..

maybe pay attention to the feed before commenting !!

Yeah, eventually he did, but at that pivotal moment he didn't, because of the aforementioned segregation. Black musicians weren't played on the radio as much as white musicians.

I believe the film is actually based on Elvis' manager's version of events and apparently Elvis was never arrested for dancing, that was a fabrication, so...

I watched a film, I enjoyed it and I learned something about a great man. there are always people who are hell bent on trashing a post

I absolutely loved the film and Elvis, top of my bucket list is to visit Graceland, I don't know if I'll ever do it but it's a goal x
