"They would have then sent you a message from the courier a bit later on asking you to pay for the courier fee / extra insurance or similar. There would have been a reason why they could not do it and they had given the courier the extra money to give to you as well. Soon as you paid it online they are gone." Ahhhh makes sense

"What’s the deal with this ? Advertised some furniture and I had a message virtually straight away. Said is this available? I said yeah. They said will send a ups postman tomorrow with cash . Named a time , I didn’t reply. Then I got a line of question marks . Blocked them now Could tell it was dodgy but can’t think what they were trying to achieve ? " I did have something similar happen a couple of years ago. I was selling a large item and they wanted to send a courier who would fetch cash..I blocked them straight away. So the scams been doing the rounds a while. I stick to eBay and Amazon mostly..

" Someone on a community group had something similar, the “buyer” was in Ireland, they wanted to ‘send a courier’ to pick up the item, but then later said the courier wanted £100 cash but since they were in ‘Ireland’ they couldn’t get the money to him, so could she give him the money & they’d include the £100 when they paid for the item…. They then changed this to a £100 gift card…. To be handed to the courier. Total scam, she blocked the ‘buyer’ but someone said had she gone through with it, they’d have waited until the driver had the item & the gift card, then they’d cancel the goods, they would have dumped the goods (a buggy in this case) and kept the voucher. I don’t trust Market Place & would never use it. Always use Gumtree - but would never get a pet off gumtree

"There seem to be a lot of scammers on Amazon at the moment. I ordered a few things on Amazon and I received items which I did not order. I got in contact with the seller and said I have received an item which I did not order please can you send me the item I ordered? They wrote back. Please return the item we posted incorrectly. You need to pay for postage and packaging and we will refund the item sent out incorrectly. I replied back, I want the items I ordered. I will send back the item that is not what I ordered and you can pay for postage and packing yourself because it is your error. They replied sorry for the inconvenience, but the order you've placed is correct. If you are not happy with what you've ordered, please return it back to us by paying postage and packaging and we will refund you for the item returned. They offered me £12. My order cost me £79. In the end, I finally got in contact with Amazon. I expressed my concerns and problem with the order along with photographs of the item that I received. I also said that they want me to pay postage and they will give me a refund for something which I did not order cost £12 and not the full refund of £79. As the seller tried to scam me. Amazon ordered them to pay for the return of the order. Pay for the postage and packaging. And give me the correct refund cost. They sent a Courier out to collect the item, I was provided with tracking information when the seller received the item. They issued the correct refund and also added another £25 postage which I did not pay. So I had a payment of £104. Instead of £79. I am guessing you're quite confused with this post, but I think that was the main intention, to confuse the customer. They didn't realise that I work in retail, so I know all the tricks and know how to get things sorted. " So did you pay them back the £25 that you hadn’t paid?
