"Lucky anyone who can afford to run a dishwasher with electricity prices the way they are. " Just on this point, as I found it interesting so others might also... I bought a bunch of smart plugs, of the sort you can remotely turn on and off etc, so I could automate turning off the tv and so on when I leave the house to save on standby costs etc. But I got one with a built in electric meter that measure how much juice it's used per day/week etc. Through judicious moving it around the house and resetting it to zero, I measured the costs of, for example, running a fridge for a day, running a standard watching machine load, running the dishwasher and so on and so on, so I have a really good feel for how much stuff costs either to run for the day for those things that stay on, or per usage like boiling the kettle, 20 minutes of Air Fryer... Anyway, TL;DR my dishwasher costs 11p per cycle, and uses less water than doing it by hand which would also use as much gas for hot water as the dishwasher did for electricity in the first place. Dishwashers are actually a money saving device, as well as time, for many.

"Get a cat, no rinsing required." With some cats (or dogs), you wouldn't need to wash the plate either.
