UK breaks more expensive the going abroad?

We've not really done UK breaks at looking at them to the south coast/etc, ok place to stay inc breakfast and dinner, you could easily have an ok spell in in Sapin/Poutugal/etc. Covid is putting us, me off flying OH not too concerned but we are looking at uk next week or week after and the weather is a big problem as you don't want to go to the coast and it pee down 24/7 and gale force winds.

we will be looking at a nice, clean, very smart place with sea views but we don't like common or posh just down to earth working, non pretentious places/people.

Do you think I've got it wrong and EU is more expensive for a 4/7 day break inc flights/food/etc like for like place to stay etc?

I'm just back from Portugal.

Ryanair flights, £12.99 there & £16.99 return, with a beautiful cheap Airbnb with private swimming pool. Was dirty cheap. Won't ever holiday in the uk if its cheaper abroad

Thanks. Were the flights packed as this is my impression ie packed to the hilt.

Reading posts like your makes me think why the uk hols but covid scares me more so than the Mrs.

Some times they are, some times they aren't. My flights was busy, but its school holidays so I expected that.

If covid frightens you perhaps stay in the uk until you are comfortable been on a busy airplane

We booked a weekend in Spain and it cost less than a decent hotel in England plus petrol to get there.

Thanks again, it's the way we are heading - its the waether more than the price that really hurts. Thank to you and the other poster

I will read if any more tips especially re bargains on south coast but noted most do breakfast only and in the winter you dont want to go out if its peeing down etc.

Few nice hotles in Eastbounre but they allow pets and the grand is too expensive and bit too post for us. Consideirng Bornmeouth but the drive is too long but we will decide a few days before we go so we have a better handle on the weather.

Never been to Spain but seen lots of tv about it tempting but as i said covid/packed flights put us off, puts me off, lol

Our next UK break is four nights dinner, bed and breakfast in a nice, country hotel in one of their best rooms. It's £720. Of course we need to factor travel costs into that which will probably add £100.

Nearly every hotel we've stayed at in the UK has been welcoming and just happy to have our custom.

Try it, you might like it

The Grand would be only to happy to host you. What you have to remember is that you're paying them. The staff want you to have a good experience and they're not going to try and make you feel uncomfortable. Lots of people I know go to The Grand for afternoon tea or to stay for a couple of nights.

Have you checked Hastings out?

Trust me, The Grand is not too posh for anybody.

There's a hotel next to it called The Landsdowne my parents used to stay there for a few days now and again. That's quite nice.

I had a look at Center Parcs and nearly fell off my swivel chair at the price!

I prefer UK holidays, but I find it hard to find what I want, which is a simple cottage holiday right near a beach, but it’s like asking for the moon on a stick!

A road went to a WCS dance event in Cannes for 12 days three were just chilling out.

£350 for the event including tuition from the top dancers in the world

£78 Flight

£150 each air B&B

A weekend away in the UK costs that much. Besides I don't like the UK as a country much since 2016 so any opportunities to get out of it is a bonus and momeynwell spent imo.

It is we considered it but alows pets and we are both allergic to wet dog smells and in winter many people go there becuse they are allowed to take pets - Thanks again
