Now just after Brexit, i posted that my Pensions where doing ok and now post covid and War they are falling apart .

So who else is feeling the big drop in there's.

I really feel sorry for people who are thinking off starting 1 as it looks like the ones people have the now will take sometime to recover or even get bk to the price it was / where before these 3 things kicked . Not counted the government's fook up .

I haven't checked mine. Nothing I can do about it and prices will probably be double by then so I'll still have to work anyway.

How would Brexit affect your pension?

If it’s a state pension and final salary then it’s secure.

If it’s a private pension then the main risk is the company going bankrupt.

Brexit per se wont have any effect - other than scaremongering!!

Post Covid and War? You mean post Truss and Kwarteng.

Now is not necessarily a bad time to be putting money into pensions. The markets are lower which means you can by more units in a fund at a cheaper price. When markets recover ( which they will. We just don’t know when) you will have bought more units in a fund at a cheaper price and therefore you will get all the increase in the market value in your pension.

Agreed it doesn’t help if you are close to retirement as we don’t know when the recovery will come, but for younger people or people who are abjection leave money there for a while, it’s potentially a great time to invest.

I've not checked mine, I make enough contributions to it but it'll go up and down again in the 40 years I have before I actually retire...

I'm not looking at mine. I want to hope that things will recover and I don't have to concern myself.

I suspect it may have referred to the effect brexit had on the economy in general, much like covid and the current Ukraine situation, rather than any legislative changes.

As private pensions will be heavily influence by market movements then any major event (such as brexit) will affect their values. It's not scaremongering. I've got years before I can start to draw on my old work pension but I follow the changes in it's value and it dropped after brexit, has fluctuated wildly during covid and dropped since the current twats got into power.

And there's little I can do about it having left the company years ago. I can't pay in, move it without huge penalties, or start to draw down on it.

So natural to be concerned about current issues and the effect the current govt's policies are having on pensions.

I'm quite lucky so far with my pensions. Including the state one, I've got 5 different pension pots, which all add up quite nicely. The main one was doing extremely well, making something like 10% plus for the last few years. I was beginning to think the people there had invested it all in narcotics or something, or even bunting for the jubilee, instead of green stuff, like I asked.

Now, though, things are a lot more volatile, as Brexit has messed up the economy. Hopefully things will bounce back before I retire.

.

Brexit will effect pension as peoples investments are usually spread around the world when they are taken out when people are younger then they move investments into funds that are safer the older u become IE Gilts & Bonds.

The BBC News app did a very good write up about how pensiins are effected even tho Brexit ain't mentioned in the story , but just ask any financial advisor

I peeked at mine yesterday - I’ve lost 10%… shocking… but thankfully I’m still working and don’t plan to retire for another 20 plus years so in the end I hope it will even itself up and be better than today
