Very much this. Though I didn't hate the hobbit too much.

The Lord of the Rings adaptions are amazing, even changes made are respectful, in the correct tone 99% of the time and done in a way as if Tolkien had done them himself. With genuine thought out reasons for having done them.

No such thing as the extended version though because a shorter version does not exist!

Never seen that one but Aussie cinema is responsible for some incredible films.

Best thing about Bubby is how bleak and dark the whole thing is then you get this incredible feelgood ending that flips the whole movie on its head. And yes it's insanely (wrongly?) funny throughout.
