"How does the horse know the Queen has died ? "

It won't specifically, but it will know that she hasn't been to see it of late. Horses are highly intelligent and can frequently suffer stress when separated from familiar surroundings, people or other horses. They'll grieve if field mates die.

Horses are often used in programs called “Equine Therapy”, do to their ability to detect and read the feelings and emotions of humans. People with PTSD and other Mental Health issues can use this program to spend time with horses as a type of therapy.

So in a word, yes - the horse will realise that the Queen is no longer around and will feel a great sense of loss.

Every day is a school day!

Animals certainly have feelings, and know sadness…

Our cat isn’t the friendliest, but when we come back from our holidays,he won’t leave my side, and he can be like that for a number of days

Our cat does the same. We don't put her in a cattery as we have neighbours come in however she's all over of us as soon as we walk in the door and then ignores us for several days on end.

Yeah animals have feelings. Not as nuanced as humans possibly but if you've looked into the eyes of a gorilla or orang utan it's difficult to believe they're not.

My ragdoll cat misses his mum who passed away last November and he often scratches at her wardrobe door and like to sleep in there then next to me on the bed. Yes Animals sense feelings.

Thank you..

Was a couple of years ago..

Both our dogs went looking for the car after we had her pts, one used to sit very close to her in her latter years which she wouldn't have tolerated as a younger animal..

I did wonder if he knew she wasnt well and she knew his closeness wasn't to be wary of..

I have horses, they do have emotion and can sense your own. Wether they have exactly the same emotions as us is a topic for debate in the equine world but emotion is part of being a sentient being.

All the same feelings but... horses are feisty so will show them.
