"One of my favourite and quite obscure records is ‘through a glass darkly’ It’s a concept album written by the guys from the BBC radiophonic workshops" I Know this! not well, but I've a few albums done by the radiophonics people, there's a cool earlier one released by White Noise called electric storm, and one of the main contributors was Delia Derbyshire, who wrote the Doctor Who theme music by accident while messing around with the tape machines in the workshop - check it out!

"Bit of a Gary Moore fest here, the G-Force album, and Colosseum II, Wardance are both excellent albums, completely different in style but distinctively Gary!" This My album collection is full of really obscure bands however, I am a huge fan of Gary and met the guy on a number of occasions, Add the BBM album to those two above The work he did with Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce was exceptional He also did a live album Blues for Jimi where he plays Hendrix songs with backing from the remaining members of “The Jimi Hendrix Experience”

"Refining the Theory by early 2000s UK nu metal pioneers Miocene. They were amazing live and hailed as a band to watch by Kerrang! Making the cover album in 2000. Chart success was limited to 1 week at number 99 for a single off the second album. " Loved that ep, the full album they did was also good. Were called the British tool for a while ![]() ![]()

"Days of the new - red Those guys had the potential for so much but were hampered, as many were, by the old drug side of rock and roll For being a grunge band this album features huge orchestral sections and a surprise appearance from a very young Nicole Scherzinger doing backing vocals " Did you ever check out Tantric? Same guys just with a different singer and non acoustic. 1st album was great! Astounded and Breakdown were cracking!

"Klaus Schulze - Babel." Oh hello! a fellow obscure ambient electronica fan then? The boxset i mentioned the record collector thread is his collaboration with Pete Namlook (Dark side of the moog). Sad to see they're both now gone- 10 years apart, as their prolific combined discography is immense in both volume and quality. Had actually popped back in to suggest another rare ambient audio nugget- Starfish Pools Chill out 'n' confused...a regular player on a long morning or evening drive when i need something proper laid back just wafting around in the background

Some excellent stuff on there. Also recently finished acquiring Schulze's "La Vie Electronique" 50 disc series. Only for Schulze completists I think, lots of stuff recovered from old studio tapes, but also some interesting pieces in there.

I managed to bag the special edition of dark side, with the additional live album off ebay, for about £40- one of my best bargains off there. Theres no chance i'll ever complete the Namlook collection- way too many and way too expensive- although i have got all five of the Air series as thats what i started with back in about 93- found in the bargain bin and purchased without having heard of him at the time...glad i took the chance! Might have to spend the evening trawling youtube for the KS back catalogue next time i'm holed up in a hotel room at work
