What is it you love, but are struggling to do?

I am really enjoying being back at the gym and moving metal plates. It's helping with my head space.

I am sure like everyone else: lock-down took its toll on me and couldn't get myself to lift.

Anyone else struggling to do what they love? And what have you done to help?

Congrats.

I did more exercise when Boris said we weren't allowed outside for more than 1 hour.

Photography. Mainly landscape but I've kinda lost my mojo. It's getting back to "sensible season" for sunrise times though so, I'm gonna make more of an effort.

Good thread OP!

Having mindless fun playing computer games. I just get the guilts that there's so much other more important stuff needing doing if I sit down to waste an evening with the controller. So I don't. And then I never do the things either

Getting out on my horse or getting out for walks. I always seem to be busy doing other less enjoyable things and am usually too tired by the time I've done them all to go out then . .Bo.

I’m really struggling with getting back into music

I left bands a few months before covid hit saying I’d take a year off.

3 years later I’m almost struggling to even find the motivation to pick up a guitar

I find be the PhotoPills app helps , quick ref to blue and golden hours wherever you are.

The other thing that helped me is planning a gallery, it’s didn’t happen as planned but it got me out shooting and framing work.

I actually prefer the not so sensible season , I can do a shoot and be back for breakfast and don’t need to book time off work

This

I had a heart attack last year and now find it difficult to get out. It’s fear more than anything as my heart rate goes up I fear the pain in my chest coming back.

It’s heartbreaking as I watched the London marathon at the weekend and still thinking if I should bother entering the ballot again.

I love spending time with someone who I love utterly, but her life has kept us apart for longer and longer periods.

She doesn't know just how much I care for her and I can never tell her.her situation is tough enough without me adding to it,so I just wait and hope.

Photography for me too. Last time I went to a camera club I had a huge dose of imposter syndrome and took 3 images under duress. Haven't really done anything since other than silly stuff.

That said - going to another club meet tomorrow night so maybe I'll fix that!

I am nowhere near in your boat & being self indulgent I know.

I beat fibromyalgia putting me in a chair. Beat a few other bits. Nearly died.

Then I get absolutely wrecked falling off a sodding kerb!!!! I’ll get there. I’m just emotional & frustrated

In my happy place

Two things...

Get back to the gym

And have a social life.

Everything seems more of an effort after the gap.

I have Fibromyalgia too, and I tripped on a stupid bloody raised flag on the path and broke my foot, tore all the muscles in my right buttock and damaged my wrist tendons… something that bloody simple! Haha!

I’m struggling lately to simply get motivated for anything. The little time I home soon e to myself is taken up by resting enough to get back to work.

But related to your op. I tried keeping fit a while ago, my natural fitness has died off, and I nearly collapsed trying to run a 3-5 k maybe? I’d not tan for over a year, but I should be able to smash that. Age does play a big part, you’ll get back to it

Read books. I used to read 2 or 3 novels a week and now my concentration span is so limited I can barely manage 1 or 2 a year. Audible gives me access to literature now and I listen for several hours a day, but can I get into a physical book? Can I buggery! I have a Literature degree ffs!

Also, have a social life. I've been a hermit for 6 years because of anxiety. It's mostly under control now, but time, parenting, money....all make an active social life just out of reach.
