I am thinking of purchasing a Nissan Juke but am wondering if the advisories should deter me. Would any of the more knowledgeable members here have any advice? Are the repairs needed immediately and is the cost likely to be considerable? Thanks in advance!

Repair as soon as possible (minor defects):

Offside Front Inner Drive shaft joint constant velocity boot severely deteriorated (6.1.7 (g) (i))

Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):

Nearside Front Lower Suspension arm ball joint has slight play (5.3.4 (a) (i))

Offside Rear hanbrake cable damaged

Offside Rear hanbrake required adjusment just passed

Ring around some independents and ask, all pretty simple stuff.

Maybe 4-5 hours labour for everything? Plus parts, my gut tells me about 400-450.

There's nothing ultimately worrying, apart from the fact you want a juke. Bouncy little things.

Haha... Thanks, I appreciate the fair warning. I'm not definitely sold on it but if I get a good deal I can be swayed. I want something spacious but not too long as squeezing into parking spaces on my road is troublesome. And it will probably be sat there 4-5 days of each week so only need a cheap runaround really. It just seems to offer good bang for my buck I'm terms of spec. I saw a cheap Civic I'd prefer but the dealer reviews were awful unfortunately.

^ this really. Just ring around a handful of local garages and they’ll call you back within 30 mins with some prices!

If it’s the Mk1 Juke. They are not as spacious as they look on the outside. The sloping roof, chunky seats and high floor take away a lot of the room.

Not a quiet a case of style over substance but fairly close….

Not sure of the miles on the car , but the above mentioned repairs are fairly commonplace given our road conditions and pot holes

Parts aren’t to expensive either

as others have said nothing too worrying get the driveshaft boot doe as soon as possible to stop any damage happening & fix the handbrake, slight play in a ball joint can sometimes be very minor you could leave that a few months but just keep an eye on it

Im an mot tester so can answer a few points. The gaiter is possibly only small splits or very small holes. Greese possibly slightly leaking. If it was a big split then it would have failed. But small splits tend to go into larger so keep an eye on it. Ball joints are allowed small play and again make sure you keep an eye on it. The handbrake has a manuall adjustment on the shoes that sit in middle of rear discs. Adjust the shoes and the performance will get better. Dont worry about the cable damage. Hope this helps

Wow... Cheers guys. I must admit I expected this to slide down to the bottom of the page without response. I am pleasantly surprised. And no silly piss taking posts either.

I understand this car isn't very robust compared to others but it isn't going to have backseat passengers in it very often, just carrying occupational large items like furniture or garden plants for my mum. Long story short, it's probably going for under £3000 for 80k on the clock which I think is a good price. I don't really want to spend more on any car as I probably do no more than 4000 miles in a year.

How spooky. I'm thinking of getting one as well so watching this thread with interest. I'm not too bothered about space. Currently drive a 207cc and more space means I'll just put more crap in it
