"What's your thoughts on it? What Elon said about it is spot on" I think the robot was badly marketed, which is unlike Elon Musk. The problem with a robot that imitates a human form is always going to be the environment. Humans have had millions of years of evolution to arrive at something that can walk through a forest, climb over fallen trees and make real time decisions based on random events. I can see robots expanding our knowledge through future space travel, enduring things humans can't. I can also see a time when robots will be able do many tasks that are dangerous or simply boring to humans. I think Sci-fi set a benchmark of expectation, that is probably a next century realisation. | |||

"I think you are possibly confusing automation and AI. And we have being automating processes and actions that humans used to complete for hundreds of years yet here we are, inventing new jobs and new processes that are yet to be automated.... Will we ever get to the utopia that there is simply nothing left for us to do? Personally, not in my lifetime or those of my kids is my best bet. Someone has to design, build, look after, install, replace, clean, update, upgrade etc all the stuff we replaced manual labour with. Tractors now plant seems and dig up carrots for us, often without even a driver now (all GPS and camera automation), but the tractors don't fix themselves, the software that plans and routes and checks the weather to make sure it gets the wheat in before it rains doesn't write itself. None of this is AI. True AI is about as far away as populating Mars, quantum mechanics, and nuclear fusion. Theoretically very interesting, but only in existence in ridiculously controlled and essentially useless practical use. | |||

I work in tech , I studied tech to masters level, I taught tech and I dint get what AI is, I’ve never seen it or heard of it. Machines cannot learn , they cannot create, improvise, they are just a bunch of on/off switches that do exactly as they ate told | |||
