Been feeling pretty rubbish of late but walking to the shop this morning a lady in the street gave me a lovely smile. Made my day.

It’s the simple things I guess, either that or she was smiling at someone good looking behind me!

I smile at everyone - they mostly think I'm the village idiot - that's their problems overcoming them not mine.

When I walk across the canal (obviously on the path), passers-by always say "Hello" and I return the greeting. Anywhere else though and I'm completely ignored. Just wondered if there's some sort of 'canal code' where it's customary to be polite. If I spoke first and got ignored, I'd feel like a right (and left) tit.
