When l first cracked the problem of getting perfect soft boiled eggs they took 2min 30sec ,now l have to take them off the boil at 2min.

Are eggs getting smaller or gas not as hot as it used to be?

Or surely the gas might be hotter now?

It’s certainly a mystery isn’t it?

Next time you make pizza crack an egg in the middle and spread it around the middle part. Lovely!! Obviously before you cook it!

This is what happens when we abandon the EU international standards organisation. Someone in Whitehall makes a typo when transcribing the document responsible for the boiling point of water, and boom! your eggs instantly become hard boiled instead of soft. We desperately need better quality of proof reading in the department that controls the standards for physical laws.

Do the new Brexit benefit additives in our water alter its boiling point?

"Maybe different shell thickness ?"

That's what happens when you revert to imperial thickness egg shells instead of metric!

The replacement gas isn't as hot as the Russian gas which we are being deprived.

"Are you using a different saucepan?"

Or a different form of heating e.g. change from gas to induction hob?

Boil it in your kettle, it's quicker and hot enough for a cuppa as well

It must be either the eggs, or you've started putting the eggs in at a different point in the heating process.

It'll be that you're using UK standard H2O now instead of the EU standard version. The rounding error converting molecule size from metric to imperial makes all the difference.
