People watching on Fab :-)

Do you like to “People watch” on Fab : ie do you notice some of the little behaviours you sometimes see or the games that are playing out?

I sometimes smile when I see a thread where a male OP only ever replies to any women replying on their thread and ignores all the men (keep your eye out, it happens often!)

What other behaviours do you notice on Fab?

It’s a psychologists dream on here, I’m sure!

The people that are secretly fucking.

The ones that portray a "good guy" image but their messages say different.

The desperados willing to fuck anyone.

The attention seekers.

The ones that talk to the talk but clearly aren't getting any.

The ones that don't like me, I came back for you guys

Nah I don't really people watch....

It's a great place for people watching...or at least it used to be, I'm not on here often enough to even recognise most people these days. Nowadays it's mainly something to do while I'm half listening to boring conference calls at work.

I wasn't often wrong about who was shagging who though, even if they were apparently keeping it quiet. And some of the ridiculously petty and childish behaviour used to greatly amuse me

I log in a dozen times a day for 5 mins at a time so an hour in total.

I only use the forums and I'm always amazed at the number of people who say they don't notice red flags or aren't aware of the "games" when it's all right there in front of them between forum comments, status conversations and verifications.

You don't even have to dig too deep for the drama highlights.

There are lots of behaviours some more noticeable than others.

Bat shit crazy soon shows itself regardless of the copious amounts of blowing smoke up folk’s arses they do on the forum. The end result can be quite spectacular.

I just love those that take great pleasure in making themselves look whiter than white when in fact they’re doing or have done the thing they’re condemning.

The ones that log in just to vent. Being online when you’re not in a good headspace and becoming a keyboard warrior never ends well.

The list goes on……….

'Important' people forgetting that what they write can be remembered and retrieved years later is why I love Twitter. The whole 'This you' phenomenon is just calling out blatant hypocrisy.

To some extent I suppose the same thing happens here, but I have more sympathy for ordinary people, trying to say 'the right thing' to gain a little kudos. Whatever. We all wear masks of one kind or another. Even to ourselves. And most especially those of us who claim the most vociferously that we don't.

Other people I can tell who is writing, without glancing at the profile pic, because they'll interject with the same subject matter, despite the thread topic.

Generally the only people watching I do these days is to see how quickly those that go UNLOS reappear in the forums.

Often they'll be posting on a new profile mere days after the old vanishes, which means they already had the shiny new one sat waiting.

I've still not worked out why they bother, when there's a perfectly functioning 'hide your profile' button.

Absolutely I do!

It used to be entertaining, engaging, fun and …. Oh yes… at times a great place to attract the eye of some sexy hunk amongst the forums. My people watching days have turned into tutting and eye rolling moments OFTEN. There used to be some absolutely corking people using the forums, most of them have left or become lurkers (with the exception of those who still use it as an aggression sparing exercise)

It’s become less people watching and more about how much diatribe people will actually put up with.

It’s more definitely more greasy spoon coffee than Costa!

The people condemning others for doing things they themselves are guilty of or have instigated must be hoping that everyone on here either have the memory capacity of a goldfish or don't have any friends.

The strangest part of all that is most of these people have amazing profiles and pics and based on looks alone would never have an issue getting repeat meets here.

The problem is their own insecurity, jealousy and need for validation and they don't seem to understand why that puts others off meeting then a second time.

Virtue signaling is rife, even amongst those that deny it

Cliques actually are a natural phenomenon ... those in them always deny (or unaware) only negative (or noticed) if you're not in them

It's the contradictions that make me laugh most! People do forget what they've said where (so not always that honest huh)

I tend to think lots of people are talking in private. I think people might actually like being a bit more open in Dms than having the whole site/forum judge them. Just adding some thought to what you just said.

"Do you like to “People watch” on Fab : ie do you notice some of the little behaviours you sometimes see or the games that are playing out?

I sometimes smile when I see a thread where a male OP only ever replies to any women replying on their thread and ignores all the men (keep your eye out, it happens often!)

What other behaviours do you notice on Fab?

It’s a psychologists dream on here, I’m sure! "

Seems like a lot of work; I just read the OP, then I either think of a way to say the word 'dong' in a response or make a thinly-veiled suggestion that I'm going to touch tips with some guy called BanDerks.

Sometimes I do both and can log off happy.

Then I get back to... whatever the fuck it is I do with my life?

Oh, and then a cat emoji, just for the goofs.

I actually enjoy seeing the teasing and friendship between people here. I know some people dislike the in-jokes and the "clique" but there are people who seem to genuinely like each other here.

I dont like people, but I love people and thread watching.

My particular favourite is watching a thread get completely derailed by some of the wits on here.

Cue the rest of the thread people asking “who have you matched me with”

Oh, and by the way, who have you matched me with?

Well Dan, if I were to tell you that would break that moment of eyes meeting across a clouded sex club magical moment wouldn’t it! I like to let folk feel they found each other rather than them being thrown together

To me it’s a strong indication of something very important. If someone can’t even interact in the forums sure as hell they won’t be comfortable with me in public. And that’s an absolute non negotiable.

And I deserve credit for using the word duplicitous on a Monday morning

Yes I people watch on here. I find it quite interesting. There's a wide array of people and little groups on here.

You have the men who will agree with any woman no matter what she says, the people who attack any man who dates to go against the grain and voice his opinion, the women who actually believe they are fab elite and their word should be taken as law and of course the ones who follow them and will back them up regardless of how rude they are. You have the shit stirrers behind the scenes who hide behind fake nice personalities ,you have the ones who pop in and out and don't take fab too seriously, the lurkers, the newbies who get told join in the forum's they are so friendly, then every comment they make gets ignored by the so called friendly crew. The trolls, the fake reoccurring women accounts, the ones who swear the forum's were way more fun before, the ones who have made friendships and interact with those friends, the cliques who think they rule as well and will hound others off here if they can,the ones who are used as puppets for others dirty work or just to post threads because they don't want to,and many many more.

It's a great place to people watch and see it all. People may come and go but the forum's remain virtually the same with the same dynamics just different people doing them .

.Bo.

I don’t know any of the posters on fab. Never met any. Probably never will. Some observations -

There are some sheep on here. Like the whole ‘cake’ thing. That was just dull.

Women tend to be fawned over. Just because they are female.

I definitely think it’s clique.

People post self depreciating comments which are clearly not true in order to gain attention.

There seems to be more and more bickering lately. People seem to be annoyed / angered by things most couldn’t give a flying fcuk about.

I also can’t believe the number of people that are taken in by the trolls.

The forums used to be more fun imo. Now they seem a bit more toxic.

I’m not a big poster but more an occasional one. I can see myself visiting the forums less and less.

"It's a great place for people watching...or at least it used to be, I'm not on here often enough to even recognise most people these days. Nowadays it's mainly something to do while I'm half listening to boring conference calls at work.

I wasn't often wrong about who was shagging who though, even if they were apparently keeping it quiet. And some of the ridiculously petty and childish behaviour used to greatly amuse me

Okay who am I shagging then? I’m game for a laugh.

Does this mean people don't reply to your comments?

I'm shit at going back to threads sometimes. When more than 1 person replies to a comment I made I don't know how to respond so I tend to not reply at all.

While I agree about how easily people are trolled they do have a target audience and rarely fail to hit their mark.

There are also different degrees of trolling.

It's always assumed that trolls are just pop-up profiles who launch grenades but many of them are established fabbers who like to snipe a little at a time.

The other thing about trolls is that regardless of the angle of approach, they aren't always wrong.

I don't people watch as such Dan but I do begin to observe repetitive behaviour..... you know - it comes to my attention more than I seek it out.

None of it annoys me. A lot of it is very wanky.
