If the person has made the effort to speak in English, grammar perhaps not to some of our standards - I'd say there are far better things to fret about and I'd engage chat with them if they appealed to me in other ways too.

Heck some of us born Brits are unable to write or speak properly.

Content of a message would put me off not so much spelling or grammar mistakes.

It's a big thing to write to someone in a different language, so I would never hold any mistakes against them. I get more put off by brits who fail to use basic English!

It doesn't matter, there are many people on here who don't have English as their first language.

Wow, that's so rude.

Your English is likely better than their ability to speak your native language.

hey its a tough place to learn the language I guess, I completely understand where you are coming from but you'll not change some people's attitudes, they probably couldn't speak your language!

We reply politely to all polite messages and we can usually tell that English isn’t someone’s first language.

We don’t bother with short, blunt, badly spelled and grammatically poor bollocks from Brits though.

To be honest, I receive messages from English people and their grammar is somethimes a struggle.

I look above this as it's the content and thought that counts in my opinion.

Apologies to the grammar police if I have done the same

Not really, some people have issues with grammar and spelling and there can be a million causes for this. It's the content that is important

It’s a strange one for us. Before anyone gets on their high horse one half of my family don’t speak English as a first language so I am usually quite good with language barriers but we need 100% understanding when it comes to meets.

We would still meet but we’d need to be certain that they understand our dynamic and how we want things to go.

No. This would not put me off.

What you have written is perfectly understandable and will improve further over time.

Some element of caution required when learning English from fab - everyday conversation generally uses less tits/cocks/spunk/jizz/squirt and definitely no blue waffle!

abruzzo Italy (and UK)

Having lived abroad now for many years and still struggling with the language, I can appreciate this from the other perspective of hoping people will be kind enough to put up with bad grammar in Italian so I couldn’t in all conscience berate anyone for their English grammar as non native English speakers

No, it wouldn't bother me providing I could understand and we could still chat easily enough. Sorry to hear people have been rude to you about it - that's shitty.

I have a similar experience here. I meet one woman (not from fab.) beautiful, intelligent, successful, positive realistic thinking. At the first meeting he said quote "If you take the effort to write more than just #How are you?# He won't signs, it's shallow thinking without understanding and he only respects his mother and himself. laugh, you'll have more time for me." Nearly one year writing.

I'd be humble and patient myself, knowing that I could barely communicate in another language.

I would hope you're given the same courtesy, and appraised on other merits.
