In my past, I did with varying levels of success. One became a long term partner for a few years. After that, it was mostly a bad idea and caused a bit of awkwardness.

The worst being the guy who pretended he was single but was actually also fucking my boss, it turned out. Made life very awkward when she found out (because he told people, I should add)

Took years to repair the reputation after that because I was made out to be the guilty party there. 10/10 would not recommend

No need to be sorry but in my case it proved very a very useful tool. Being better qualified and more talented than my contempories wasn't cutting it I decided on a more direct promotion strategy and gave in to the overtures of a senior colleagu. Once I had climbed that greasy pole it was also very exciting to be on the receiving end of other's desires for advancement across my senior executive body.
