Favourite oven setting?

I really like 180 degrees/gas mark 4.

Waiting for that little orange light to go out whenever I set it as such, is never less than an incredibly exciting and rewarding experience I find as you can never predict exactly when it will click off…

I’ve had my tea already though so I may instead go and boil my kettle now; the automatic click off provides similarly gratifying entertainment

Have you ever used one of those traditional Hexi-fuel stoves? I tried one whilst camping once and the fuel was popping and spitting everywhere!

No not tried that, this is a lifestyle so need to watch the weight. I had a gas stove but I was just using it to hear water for coffee, I was I France and my bag was too heavy so had a clean out, the stove had to go as I can get rid of gas, frying pan and saucepan then, didn't throw it away I buried it in a forest next to the Rhone River in Mornas, I know exactly where it is lol.

Odd question. I normally end up cooking things at 200°. It suits most things. If I'm making rusks though I have it on the very lowest setting at the bottom of the oven.

Clearly this is crematorium mode and I’ve never dared try it.

Has anyone else? What was it like? Out of body experiences?
