It doubles up as a heater and takes the cold out the room for about 12p for an hour or 2..rather than putting the main central heating on. ." That the aldi one? I have one I got 2 years ago. Will probably be using it in the future.

"The biggest expenditure for people is a mortgage (assuming you have one). For people whose mortgages are about to change, expire etc..it will be a huge shock as rates will exceed 6 per cent, probably even higher within the next year. Grab the cheapest 5 year rate as soon as you can. Studying economics is a curse " It would probably be worth paying the early exit fee and getting a decent deal if you can find one. Thankfully we are fixed for another 3 years. If only I had a crystal ball

"We started noticing a few months ago when our food and petrol bill increased " Until recently food has been getting cheaper year on year since the 1970s due to our EU membership & strength of GBP. We only spend around 10% of income on food now compared to 25% in the 1980s and 33% in the 1970. Of course all this is all changing now , food prices are expected to quadruple over the next 5 years particularly fish,, oils and fats. This is already happening with prawns increasing 67% recently

Hopefully it won’t hit that, but right now I’m just going to have to keep putting money away in the savings to go towards the house.

We saw the value of our house plummet overnight too. Luckily we never went into negative equity but a lot of people did and were left with mortgages they could barely afford that were higher than the value of their home. Sit tight and you'll be ok

"Tom does not feel the financial crisis at all but somebody visited his house last week and said that he was so lucky to live in such a big house . .. Bullshit.. the harder Tom worked then the luckier he got . " That’s not luck then. Luck is winning the lottery. Not a fan of the word luck. If you worked damned hard for what you have then that’s nothing to do with luck.

"Sure I heard somewhere that banks are rushing to withdraw fix rate products. A woman on Question Time even said that her bank removed the rate she had signed up whilst she was in the process of buying a house and she can no longer afford to go through with the purchase. "It's gna get allot worse...we all gna feel the pinch " Worked out budgets to within an inch of their lives before exchanging contracts on a property earlier this year, costs have all gone up and budget is out of the window. We are spending around 30% more than we were, and that’s before the rise in energy prices
