Asda Over Charging

Last few shops in Asda and noticed a few items were over charged.

Times are tough and will get tougher. Make sure you check your receipt.

Also noticed most of the shelves were empty, been like this for a few weeks.

Do they have supply problems?

I've been thinking the same thing in Aldi RE the empty shelves. It feels every time I go in, it's been the same things missing for weeks!

I don't think they're overcharging though even though my shopping has gone up, I think it's just what's happening at the minute

Checked the cost of the item on the shelf ticket and on the receipt and have been overcharged.

Wasnt going to bother first as it was only 15p over the marked price but thought fuckit and got my 15p back.

It was marked as £1 but went thru as £1.15. Thats a sneeky 15% increase.

Another thing to watch with ASDA ... the price on the shelf is sometimes different to the price when scanned at the checkout .... mostly in their favour

I think empty shelves reflect disputes between suppliers and supermarkets where they cannot agree on price, hence refuse to supply/stock

Reply privatelyReply in forumReply +quote

?

I believe they are also consolidating deliveries to cut down on costs as well, 1 or 2 deliveries of new stock per week rather than 1 (or more) per day, so stuff may run out in between deliveries.

I've started using the scan as you go zappers so I can check what comes up on the screen. All supermarkets seem to have overpricing issues.

Also the ones I go to all have empty shelves but that may be after the pensioners emptied the shop. I need to go earlier.

I used to work for a wholesaler supplying smaller retail outlets and they could never compete with the buying power of the large supermarket chains on seasonal items such as selection boxes and Easter eggs. Tesco's were selling them as loss leaders for less than large wholesalers could buy them for.

Supply chain issues over the last couple of years have had an effect on that so there are fewer products being sold as loss leaders and therefore creating gaps on shelves.

"Tesco stopped stocking some Heinz products because Heinz wanted to inflate their prices and Tesco said No! "

I believe this was for the Heinz beans. Well they are back on the shelf at a higher price nevertheless.

Single can is now £1.20 at Tescos for 415g can, the cheapest elsewhere is currently 85p (usual price 89p) at B&M, who also seem to have the cheapest multipack price (for 4 cans and 6).

No didn’t knew . But knew the suppliers were avoiding go out .

So there was a shortage of metal frames to finish the kitchen units when I was working in Milton Keynes .

I been very busy , is a constant battle

Against being homeless and having work since lockdown 1 .

I’m sorted , I’m comfortable , but has been restless .

I thought supermarkets cut on products to push I to buy others . More expensive .

Once they have a pallet or 2 out of the way restock it all back out …

But yes u can tell there are delays in transports

Sometimes I have the all first area all gone

Or all fresh vegetables all gone …

I think we should build

Self efficient , grow our own green peas n beans and tomatoes .

Shortages(and there are a lot) are caused by a combination of things:brexit paperwork, driver shortages, strikes at some ports causing a backlog, Ukraine war and many specific products being short as a result.

I also noticed that food price inflation has risen by 12% in one month alone.

Thank heavens that sex is plentiful!!

Its not really brexit its more down to the collection of food by other countrys.

We might be covid injected or many of us are but those abroad are not.

You cant demand them to go risk of getting it just to pick your food that we no longer produce here in the uk.

Therefore expect food shortages in many stores.

heres heinz salad cream ingrediants

Spirit Vinegar, Water, the seed Oil (22%), Sugar, Cornflour, MUSTARD, Pasteurised EGG Yolks (3%), Salt, Colour (Riboflavin).

just for the seed oil alone

Canada 19.49

European Union 16.29

China 14.05

I did read somewhere recently that Asda has become one of the most popular supermarkets since they launched their new budget range. That people had been going in and stocking up literally buying dozens of the same item, And that they are now limiting it to 3 items per customer.
