As much as moment of truth is lauded as one of the greatest, personally I prefer Hard to Earn. I’d stick Ice Cubes Predator album of GZA’s liquid swords above it, but it’s all opinion.

Between moment of truth and hard to earn, it’s a coin toss for me but recently I’ve been preferring moment of truth. I’m not saying it’s the best album of all time but it might be my favourite

Nah, Life After Death was a bit overindulgent and far too r'n'b to be an all time great hip hop album. For a double cd, there's only about a single cd's worth of decent tracks

Anyone who thinks Rap is all the same (guy previous, cba to quote) is just being wilfully dismissive. I've got Scottish rap from 1987 in my music library, it bears no resemblance to most of the stuff listed above but it's valid and you can't pigeon hole it by saying "it's *just* rap". Open your mind and ears a bit, you might find something you like. Music isn't the dominion on a 5 piece band with a drummer, keyboard, 2 guitars and a lead singer...

To anyone saying rap is not music, does obviously not know what the acronym means.

Rhythm and poetry was created when DJs noticed that more people danced during the breaks from vocal tracks and to the instrumental parts of the music. Later on people experimented with laying bars of rhyme over the music and everything kicked off from there. In fact it’s been around for a lot longer than people realise.

It always sadddens me when I see people saying “it’s not music”.

There’s loads of rubbish out there, but the best hip-hop has amazing lyrical content and incredibly inventive sampling/production.

It’s often decried by rock music fans who listen to bands churning out banal, basic lyrics over the same old basic chord progressions with the same instruments.

A quick comparison between the lyric sheet on a hip-hop album and guitar band’s album can be quite instructive. Also, those lyrics are sometimes improvised. I’ve seen that sone brilliantly.

As someone with Grade 8 in two instruments, and years of teaching guitar, I feel I have some experience to back up what I say
