So was wondering, what's your opinions on the place and what is there to do?

Lived there a while. People are mostly friendly but it always felt rundown. Hanley nightlife seems to have died a death on last visit. Newcastle under Lyme May be a better bet for a fun night out. It’s an easy journey to Birmingham for a wknd on train. Did have some good curry house options along with the ceramics outlets….

Grab some oatcakes, see if you can spot Robbie Williams mum, leave.

Coventry

Yep, still not got my head around oakcakes. People I know from there want and rave about them. But I figure if they were that good there would be an oatcake franchise outlet in every high street

Stoke is 1 of my favourite cities. And especially because of the people . You're fortunate being there

I will apologise to the coolest Stokie on the forums but there is absolutely nothing worth doing in Stoke.

Stoke on Trent

I moved back to Stoke after my divorce in 2020 just before the world went tits up. It has indeed seen lots of decline, lost of most of it's industries, and in many areas is a bit run down. It's on the up again though! And technically not Stoke, but close by Newcastle Under Lyme...there's stuff there.

As a creative type myself involved in live music event production, comedy promotion and art events there's more going on than you might think!

Nightlife wise it depends on what you like. Live music venues are pretty good, Eleven in Tunstall, Sugarmill, The Underground and lots of pubs and WMCs putting on nights.

A few comedy nights around, Comedy Kiln at Bottlecraft, Funny Duck in Newcastle at Brown Sugar, another one in Hartshill at Sanctuary Ales (Valhalla), ROFL in Newcastle every weekend.

There have been a few really great events recently, put on by local arts groups Appetite and B-Arts. mini festivals and pop up events. Regular Artisan markets coming to Newcastle and Hanley.
