Its chicken stew for us today, put it on a low setting before bed, woke up at six to its beautiful smell wafting up the stairs, it's already cooked and on the warm setting until midday.

Have a great day all.

Putting a chicken in later, I put the chicken in a slow cooker bag with some water and a stock and then under the bag I put potatoes.

If it's not a joint of meat then I also like cooking chowder in there too, delicious.

My oven broke in January and I never got it fixed/replaced so everything goes in the slow cooker and veg gets cooked in a spare kettle

It's better than you might imagine. Creamy and cheesy if you want it to be, and can get crunchy around the edges with a bit of colour. Never going to brown like in an oven, but still very good x

Almost everything! I use one of the Nija multifunction ones... Air-fryer, slow cooker, pressure cooker, steamer etc so almost never use the oven anymore.

I think it would be a lot cheaper, I know it's cheaper than an electric fan oven.

Lifes departure lounge NN9 Northamptonshire East not West MidlandsMidlands

Use my Slow cooker a lot, mainly stews, casseroles, Savory mince for cottage pies, Baked potato's, even baked cakes in it, Whole chickens.

Very economical to use compared to an electic fan oven.

They use about 100 watts..about the same as an old bright light bulb..so using it for 10 hrs is a kilowatt hr ..one unit

I like to cook a brisket of beef in mine. The cheaper cuts of meet benefit from long, slow cooking so the meat is really tender and the vegetables taste delicious. I generally cook in a mix of red wine, beef stock and mustard. I’m hungry now!

I’ve tried it a few times but I can never seem to get the cola to caramelise like they say it will. I’ve now taken to putting a little honey instead which works great for me

I love my slow cooker. Today I have three beef short ribs in there, they were yellow stickered in Morrisons so only cost £4.

Once cooked I will shred and use one for burritos tonight, one will be the base of a broth or a pie tomorrow (can't decide which to do) and the third one will be shredded and frozen ready to chuck into a quick Bolognese or chilli or curry as required.

I always fill the slow cooker and freeze a load of portions so I've got some good stuff in the freezer ready to go.

One of the three cheapest ways of cooking are the slow cookers, microwaves and air fryers.
