My husband is a keen baker, and recently started making them from scratch. Everything in them is fresh, and they are absolutely gorgeous.

We had a "pint n' pasty" night last week, and they went down a storm. No greasy pastry, and only the best diced beef in them.

If you are OK in the kitchen, just make 'em yourself.

Saying Cornwall is just a cop out. But there is a bakers in St Austell that makes excellent Cornish pasties.

If you said the G word in Cornwall you would be chased all the way to the Tamar bridge. Probably safe after though. Cornish people won't travel to the north.

Come to Bridport.

Leakers Bakery, they make all manner of pasties, from traditional Cornish type ones to chilli and veggie.

Proper pastry, proper job.

The only downside is, once you’re in there it’s impossible to resist the urge to buy their lovely fresh cakes as well.

Totally! Monstrous things and nothing like a proper cornish pasty! Only called so because to be an actual cornish pasty it literally has to be made in Cornwall!

To be fair if you want a grand old debate just come here and ask the cornish which is the best pasty! First and foremost homemade of course and it's still a booming tradition but after that it's a free for all fight!

Listening to tourists fawn over their favourite, seeing as they only tend to get them from the tourist shops, is very funny indeed!

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I think half of all Cornish pasty bakers ship them out of the county, Granny. Pick your pasty maker and you'll get your pasty the next day.

NB: This option is not recommended for immediate pasty cravings.

When I visit family on Truro I usually attach a trailer to my car and I load up on Rowes frozen pasties before heading back.

There are companies that send out and deliver frozen Cornish pasties. I think Phillips was used by relatives.

I echo trying a Caribbean pattie, but a very different taste buds experience!

Being from Newquay, my mother and sisters all made wonderful pasties, a skill passed on to my sister and me.

Don’t use best beef steak as has been suggested you need to get some ‘skirt’ and of course potato and turnip, basic ingredients but great eating. My grandchildren often ask for pasties when asked what they would like for supper!

The Cornish pasty association website has a recipe for the perfect pasty! Good luck and good eating.

I joined this site to get a ‘nice bit of skirt’ but sadly my age seems to count against me. Would it help if I put makes a good pasty on my profile?

The Cornish pasty has become a protected food following a long campaign to prevent it being copied by imitators. Sorry to disappoint, but unless you've been to Perranporth and had a fresh pasty from one of the two bakeries and sat on the cliffs to fight off the seagulls, then you have not lived.

Ginsters are an insult to everything Cornish.

Failing that, I get damn close making my own. Get on YouTube, there are plenty of videos and get the mix right. It's almost there.

Nothing in packaging comes close.
