South Derbyshire

I think so. Champagne is more "buttery". But prosecco is lovely in its own right.

Champaign and Prosecco are made the same. It can’t be called Champaign as it’s not made in the Champaign region of France.

FYI: The bubbles are formed during the fermentation process.

FYI: Cava is just carbonate white wine.

Hope it helps.

The only diff is in the quality of the individual maker.

"Just wondering "

Prosecco has to be made from 85% Glera grapes with the rest made up of other varieties including pinot noir and Chardonnay.

Champagne, apart from being a protected region (so it has to come from there to have the name) is made predominantly from Chardonnay, pinot meunier and pinot noir. You can make champagne entirely from red or white grapes or a mix of both.

Both Prosecco and champagne are generally dry wines but can be vinified to be medium or sweet.

There are as many good champagnes and Proseccos as crap and don't be swayed by the price - more expensive doesn't guarantee better quality.

And don't forget cava as an option too.

Chams or Socials

Champagne can only come from the Champagne region in France

Prosecco is Italian

Cava is Spanish

Cava gives me reflux & soem Champagnes do too but prosecco doesn’t

Yeh, I’d say champagne is a lot dryer.

I like Prosecco

Carbonated just means it has bubbles. Cava, like Champers and Prosecco, gets it's bubbles naturally rather than by adding c02 as with some sparkling wines.
