Train, plane, coach, car, tram.

I'm a Manchester lad and avoid the city centre as much as I can.

Only use it to pass through or for gigs.

It can be great for gigs.

Yup, St Elyn's, it really came of age in the Industrial revolution.

Coal, glass and cold remedies, gave the town and world Pilkingtons glass and Rockware glass and an obscure company called Beechams. "Out of the Earth: light" was one of the towns mottos.

Michael Marks was Polish, born in the-then Russian empire. He died in Manchester, yes, but lived in Leeds when he first arrived in England. Thomas Spencer was born in Skipton, Yorkshire. They ran a market stall together in Leeds which became the Penny Bazaar shop, also in Leeds. The Penny Bazaar later moved to Cheetham Hill in Manchester, yes, but it had formed in Leeds before this.

Alan Turing was not from Manchester but did some of his most important work on computing and AI at the University of Manchester. He has a memorial in Central Manchester.

As well as his computing and mathematical genius, Turing was a world class long distance runner who might have competed in the Olympics as a young man except for injuries, then WW2.
