I’m a forever optimistic person. Although I literally am looking forward to nothing at the moment (however something cool next week) I’m sure something good could crop up.

I might even start looking for a holiday for myself, I need a f’kin break.

I ordered a boutique games console about 18 months ago, it arrived dead last month, but 20 minutes ago the replacement arrived, so I’m looking forward to a weekend of retro gaming and zero parenting

I see very little in the future that is positive, and I feel sick at the thought of my son living in the world we have made.

So I try to find my hope in tiny, concrete, material things: today, I'm looking forward to playing cricket in the park with my son. To freshly-ground coffee. To watching the new series of Ghosts.

Wirral

Crisp clear autumn mornings with crunchy frosty grass to walk across.

Long evenings of drinking hot drinks with the fairy lights on, snuggled under a blanket on the sofa.

Digging out my big coat and shiny sequined bobble hat to keep warm as I walk down the prom to watch all the fireworks go off across the river.

My annual day out round the Christmas markets with my mum, laughing at the overpriced tat that nobody sane would buy and getting slightly squiffy on liqueur coffees.

Hearing Slade in a shop for the first time this year and knowing it'll soon be Christmas and I'll get to spend a bit of time with my extended family.

Frosty mornings, Brussels sprouts back in season, training and not sweating ridiculous amounts.

abruzzo Italy (and UK)

It’s my sons wedding in a couple of weeks, although there will be two of my ex wives and their families there, I don’t like large social events, and the person I would like to take with me will be in Hawaii, and probably wouldn’t come anyway, so it’s a bit of a double edged sword
