Ghosting

Am I the only one, or does this happen to every single guy?

I seem to have gone through a spate of introductory chats with girls at the moment where all seems fine and we’re hitting it off.

They’re returning my messages immediately, being fun and flirtatious. We say goodnight then next morning: nothing.

No read receipt or reply.

I can’t have become boring overnight, they may have sobered up, but it seems really strange that I’ll get 3-4 hours of attention, then…. nothing.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Welcome to the world of online dating. Pull up a chair, sit down, pour yourself a drink and then try again until you're nothing but scar tissue. Drop any notion you might have about being any good, because there's always better. If you've been getting replies then you've done better than 99.9% of all men here. If you've actually managed to get anywhere you've done better than 99.999999% of the men here.

It's probably not as sinister as you may think.

We were trying to arrange a meet yesterday, got side tracked and forgot to get back to a guy, so much shit and trash to wade through its so easy to forget who the good guy was.

Then again, it probably isn't just men who like some wank material now and then so who knows.

I'm guilty of this tbh and have had this done to me plenty. Sometimes the next day I just cba to chat to people and then mean to another time then their messages get lost in the sea of all the other messages that come in and I can no longer remember what we talked about.

I'm kinda busy with family stuff and decorating at moment, but I never, ever fail to politely respond to messages even if it takes ages. I look at it this way, someone has taken time to message me, it's only courtious and manners to reply, sadly not shared in the same manner when I initially send messages, but still smiling

I think we've all had it at one time op.

I tend to lose interest v quickly if people go quiet and add a profile note on to their profile so I know what they're like in future.

I agree buddy, you just have to keep smiling

Personally I wouldn't spend hours chatting anyway, make your aquaintance, set a date, KEEP that date, have fun together and hope for another visit if you impress

I do this some nights. Lying in bed and have a chat. Some of the chats have been great. I don't necessarily want to meet that person. It's just a chat while I'm lying in bed. Fills a half hour before I go to sleep. The next day I probably couldn't tell you who I chatted to or what the chat was about. By then that conversation is 20 down. I don't really go into messages. From the bottom of my heart I'm sorry to all the people I've ghosted

How long is it before you're either a ghoster or ghostee?

I mean, I don't necessarily want to talk every day.

I think it's worse in a dating situation, where there are maybe more expectations and potential for commitment. That's why I like fab. None of those expectations.

I find it worse on regular dating sites. Here I tend to excuse it because of the nature of the site. I’d also add when I experience it here which has only happened a couple times I’ve tended to explain it away but thinking at least once the person I was chatting to probably wasn’t who they presented to be…

Having said that I've just read your OP properly and wouldn't necessarily say you've been ghosted, just the victim of a fleeting conversation. I'm on the other end of these sometimes, but to be fair I'll usually let them know I'm not feeling it if they follow up.

At least you only spent one night on them!

Happens to every guy here, without exception (probably). Doesn't matter how well you think you're getting on, you don't know what else is happening in their life, or if they were just being polite and have decided to yank the chain and flush you out of their life in the easiest way possible. It's frustrating, but we have to be prepared for it to happen every time

Is it really ghosting though?

I have conversations that go stale for days/weeks then pick back up after a status or comment on the forums.

I don't even message my family every day, never mind some random on Fab, that includes those on my friends list

Oh yeah, for most its just a game.

For some they only intended it to be a couple hours. Others, they were just horny and the moments passed.

But its rude.

Yeah move on and all that. But its still unfair behaviour.
