Somewhere In The Ether…

God bless doughnuts! (or Donuts if you prefer the alternative spelling).

Good folks of FAB; what is your favourite type of this glorious culinary invention?

Ring vs round? Best filling? Best make? etc. etc

Perhaps you know of an interesting story involving a Vicar, a donut, a lewd sexual act and a subsequent police arrest for gross indecency in a public place?

Simply put, I want you all to tell me anything and everything about how donuts have immeasurably enriched your existence.

Off you go my good people

Your bog standard jam doughnut from Tesco will do for me.

Indulgence wise you can't beat Krispy Kremes but they are soooo expensive!

I'm just not a donut person - not even Krispy Kremes can tempt me. They're deep-fried balls of yuk.

Can we talk about macarons & eclairs instead?

Love a custard donut. But the best ones I remember from way back were plaited apple donuts sold on the beaches in South of France.

Anything apart from the abomination that is a Jonut

Other than that, I like the Nutella one from Krispy Kreme, and the glazed one, and the jam ones from Sainsburys, and the ones from the Dinky Donut van. I just like doughnuts

Also, I love to order ones online from a place called Project D. I don't buy them all the time though because then I would be broke and fat

Morrisons are amazing, best supermarket donuts I've ever had (and I've tried them all). The strawberry jam filling closely followed by custard and lemon curd. I can do a whole pack (5) in about 15 mins.

All are good. I like the custard filled ones but my favourite are just simple ring ones with plenty of sugar and cinammon. I also love those deep fried lokma ones dripped in honey syrup with sesame seeds and cinammon. Yummy

Random Doughnut Related Interlude: Is it just me or does it really pee you all off if, when you’re enjoying your delicious, sugary coated doughnut, some bugger decides to issue the dreaded ‘doughnut challenge’ of not licking your lips?

Piss off! I want to enjoy it in peace! (and no, I can’t do it at any rate).

Ooh doughnuts… I’m a big fan of plain and simple when it comes to them.

Krispy Kreme plain glazed

Sainsburys Jam doughnut

But for the win it’s my childhood favourite

Powdered Sugar doughnut.. totally different to any other doughnut.. more cake like.

Haven’t seen them over here though.

My first job leaving school was in a bakers in Peckham High . One of my tasks for was making the doughnuts. I used to make the dough, shape them, prove them, fry them, fill them, sugar them and pack them for sale.

I have a life long hatred of doughnuts now.

Pippins doughnuts at St Nicks market in Bristol (outside) - do all sorts of flavours but the chocolate brownie one is very nice. Same goes for Pinkman’s on Park St in Bristol. They do a good chocolatey one.

I quite like chocolate
