"Oh my.. Did they just sing God save the Queen or King ? It sent chills down my skin" The King. I had a little chuckle to myself as the majority of the congregation scrabbled for the order of service, when they realised verse 2 was being sung. I've never forgotten learning the whole thing for the 50th anniversary of VE Day....

"Wonder how much this is going to cost the taxpayers? " From Full Fact: How much will the Queen’s funeral cost? WHAT WAS CLAIMED The Queen’s funeral will cost around £8 million. OUR VERDICT We’ve not been able to find evidence to support this figure, but royal funerals have cost roughly this much in the past.

"There's lots said around the cost and some try to add in financial impacts from businesses not trading. Not the time to be talking pounds and pence really. Tbh the per capita cost will likely work out, at most, less than a trip to the chippy. Pretty sure that's do'able for anyone and those who couldn't 'put their hand in their pocket' if you want to think of it in real terms, well they're not going to be doing that either way are they? They're receiving supports as we are fortunate in that way to have the system we have (broken or otherwise)" Businesses didn't HAVE to close, ultimately it was a choice. There are plenty of commercial activities still running today.

"Wonder how much this is going to cost the taxpayers? Taxpayers only pay less than a couple of quid each towards the monarchy. Not much to get upset about. However, you could always get in touch with the Tory government and ask how they are getting away with wasting millions each on year and not generating an income? 70 years on the throne deserves a good send off and my goodness we know how to do it well Exactly. And the Royals have been known to part fund funerals of their own. I can't see how this would be different Don't forget the Royals including the Queen pay/paid tax too, Prince Charles chose to pay tax on the Duchy Of Cornwall estates, he doesn't have too...45 million I believe the figure to be, could be wrong there but he does pay tax. Needs to have a word with Sunaks wife and how much she pays to the system Charles hasn’t paid his inheritance tax. Blimey, he's been a bit busy if you hadn't already noticed! People are getting very emotional over a woman in a box that most of us never met, who lived on wealth generated by oppression going back over 1000 years. They are using statements like "that's why this country is better than everywhere else", which is jingoism. They're also thinking she was here for us, good for us, as if we have some sort of affinity with her and subsequently defending her -- that's bootlicking. The inability to separate logic from emotion is pretty evident in this.

"Why don't the haters start your own thread? Why brand people "haters" just because they have a difference of opinion?" I think calling a 4 year old child mad is a ‘hater’ not a person with a relevant opinion. I also think the talk of money could have been a separate thread. You chose to raise it on this thread. This thread is supposed to be about the procession, the troops, the pomp and ceremony.

"I enjoyed the bagpipes as she was being taken from the hall to the abbey. I wasn’t going to watch it but decided to. I guess it what you would expect for a royal funeral, very grand and all the military processions. I wonder if a royal can opt for their own funeral wishes or if they have to follow protocol? I always wonder if being born into royalty if any ever feel it a privilege and happy to to their duties or if any feel it a burden. I know Harry stepped down from Royal duties. " I think a bit of both. Certain things have to happen to make it a state funeral, but reportedly the Queen had decided on the hymns and other features, such as the lone piper at the end. The Archbishop of Canterbury said she didn't want "a long, boring service". Probably similar to many older people - my Grandad left handwritten instructions in an envelope for his funeral, although COVID rules meant we sadly couldn't fulfill them all.

"Gosh if you can't use emotion on the day of a funeral, when can you? Maybe save it for the people who cannot afford to pay their fuel bills, the homeless left behind by a broken system, the countless people struggling for NHS appointments, those whose livelihoods have been decimated by the pandemic and years of Tory mismanagement. At the very least, save the sentiment for someone who actually cared about you, like your own family or friends." You think I have a finite amount of emotions? How bizarre.

"Wonder how much this is going to cost the taxpayers? From Full Fact: How much will the Queen’s funeral cost? WHAT WAS CLAIMED The Queen’s funeral will cost around £8 million. OUR VERDICT We’ve not been able to find evidence to support this figure, but royal funerals have cost roughly this much in the past. You're missing the cost to the economy from all the lost working hours. " Could I ask you that when you go to a funeral of family or friends do you get paid for being there? I made a choice today not to work out of respect not because I was told to through suppression
